" If you sat down and let me treat you. Mother told me to always brush and braid long hair for night, else hair may weaken and break way too early. But a scalp massage would ease tension too. Never forget to oil the tips to prevent dryness. It works on scales too... " A pause.
"Just a thought!"

She Said What (Melissa Schemmenti x f!Reader)
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Seeing Gary get down on one knee shattered you. Tasting Melissa on your lips put you back together again.
Words: 2.5k
Warnings: none
It was like taking a knife to the gut, twisting in your intestines, leaving you gasping for breath. You weren’t meant to be there. Eyes darting around the room, you were desperate for escape. You couldn’t breathe. One step back, then another, you fled down the hall before you could hear the answer.
Gary had asked Melissa to marry him. And you, like an idiot, had fallen completely in love with her.
When it had been nothing but a relationship, kept on the outskirts, it was easier. Avoiding the break room on Tuesdays, not asking about weekend plans or prying to much into her relationship, you could keep your friendship with her devoid of any details. It was easier that way. You couldn’t be plagued of thoughts of the two of them together. If you didn’t think about it, your jealousy couldn’t run rampant, ruining your friendship with her.
Now though…
You’d be seeing the ring on her finger. You might be invited to the wedding. She might change her last name. It would be everywhere, in your face, reminding you how the woman you love was not yours to love. That your chance with her had slipped away.
Career day was a bust and you needed escape and yet you were trapped in your classroom with the kids, praying the clock would speed up and you would have your freedom. Right now, Melissa was somewhere in the building, a new sparkly ring on her finger, joy in her heart, desperate to go home and celebrate with her new fiancé.
You felt sick at the thought.
The bell rung and you thanked the mechanic who had come to speak to your class, shaking his oil stained hand. Sinking down onto your chair, you buried your head in your hands, letting out a long breath. You would have groaned if not for being in a place anyone walking past could hear. All you wanted was to pack up your stuff and go home, curling up in your bed and letting yourself give in to the pressure building behind your eyes.
“You look like you’ve had a day about as good as mine.”
You startled, looking up from the hands your head was resting in. Melissa was walking into your classroom, hands thrust into the pockets of her leather jacket. You blinked, trying to rearrange your face into something celebratory, not the despair you’d been feeling all afternoon. Stretching your lips into a smile, you felt it stiffen as you looked at her.
“Hey,” you said, “congratulations. I saw the feed. It was a beautiful proposal.”
“It was,” she agreed, resting against the edge of one of the student’s desks, much as she had at the front of her classroom when Gary got down on one knee.
“You must be so happy,” you said.
“Not really,” she replied with a small shrug.
“Well, not when you’re here with me but I bet Gary is waiting at home for you to celebrate,” you said, offering her a sheepish smile.
“He better not be. I don’t need another restraining order,” she said.
“Ha, yeah,” you said, “wait, what?”
She quirked an eyebrow up at you. You had no ides what was going on, on the back foot of the conversation so quickly. When her lips quirked up, you lost any words to try and fix whatever situation you’d found yourself in.
“Hon, did you see my answer?” she asked.
“Of course I did,” you replied, laughing uncomfortably.
She sighed, shoulders relaxing, “I said no.”
“What?” That was not what you were expecting.
“I said no. You know I have no interest in being married again. He didn’t listen no matter how many times I told him. We want different things,” she said.
‘So you…?” You didn’t want to assume after your last assumption had gone so badly.
“We broke up,” she said.
“Oh, Mel, I’m so sorry.”
You made your way around your desk, perching beside her. You found her leaning against your shoulder, soft hair brushing against you as you curled an arm around her waist. Her head rested against you, shifting closer.
“It’s better we realised. No resentment, no cheating, no attempted murder. A clean break before anyone could get really hurt,” she said.
“Still, it sucks,” you said.
“Yeah, it does,” she sighed.
“I really am sorry,” you said.
“Really? I always got the impression you didn’t really like him,” she said.
You stiffened. She drew away from you, turning those beautiful green eyes onto you. You tried to stutter out an answer, to refute her claim, to lie right to her face. But there was nothing. No words came out and you were left staring at her, anxiety swooping in your stomach.
“You were never comfortable when I talked about him so I stopped but I always wondered what was wrong with him,” she said.
“Is that why you said no?” Guilt curled in your stomach.
“Of course not. I really don’t want to get married again. Once was enough. I guess I’m just curious what you saw in him,” she said.
“I didn’t really know him,” you said, offering her a non-committal shrug.
“But you didn’t like him,” she said, not bothering to phrase it as a question.
“It was nothing about him. I’m sure he was fine. Nice even. And you loved him. He wasn’t a bad guy as far as I could tell,” you said.
“He’s not. But I thought we were good enough friends that you’d be honest with me,” she said.
Guilt again, washing over you, wave after wave. She was still looking at you, a small lopsided smile both sad and hopeful. You sighed, leaning into her again, not wanting those eyes assessing you anymore.
“It wasn’t about him. I mean sure, I thought you could do better but it was more to do with me. I didn’t want that to get between us and ruin our friendship,” you said.
“Can’t you just tell me what the issue was?” she asked.
“I don’t think that will make you feel better,” you said.
She hopped off the desk, moving to stand in front of you. You swallowed past a lump in your throat, averting your eyes down to your hands clasped between your thighs. With a forefinger, she tilted your chin up until you were looking back in her eyes.
“I can handle it, hon,” she said.
“Mel,” you sighed, not sure how to finish the sentence.
“It can’t be that bad,” she said, “unless he was the man who mugged your nanna.”
“I don’t think he was,” you said, giving her a weak smile.
“So what is it?”
The finger on your chin was practically burning your skin. You took a deep breath, anxiety making your fingertips tingle and your stomach roil. She was still watching you and you couldn’t tell what emotion it was swimming in her eyes.
“I didn’t want to hear about your relationship because… because…” You squeezed your eyes shut, “because I was jealous.”
“Aw, hon, you’ll find your guy one day,” she said, gently nudging you in the shoulder.
That was not the answer you were expecting. You peeked over to her, her smile softened as she looked at you. You shook your head.
“Not of your relationship,” you said, shoulders slumping, not wanting to keep the secret after coming so close to telling her, “of him.”
“What?” she asked, her smile slipping for a moment.
“Mel,” you sighed, “I’ve been half in love with you for a while now. And I’m sorry that it didn’t work out with Gary because I don’t like you hurting. I don’t want you think this is me trying to swoop in the second you’re single. I’m not that unfeeling.”
The smile had completely left her face, eyes widening and the shock evident. You could only stare at her, waiting for some kind of reaction. Mostly you were waiting to be told to get the hell away from her and never speak to her again. Her hands landed on your knees, fingers digging in as she gripped you hard.
“Hon,” she said, voice catching and you squeezed your eyes closed again, waiting for the slap, “can you look at me?”
You opened your eyes again. She was peering into your face, eyes swimming with an emotion you couldn’t name. Her lips were quirked at the corners, just enough for your heart to begin beating double time. Hands slid further up your legs as she lent towards you. You didn’t know what was going on and you were scared to move. Frozen under her touch, all you could do was stare back at her.
“I wish I’d known. I wish you’d told me,” she said.
“Would it have made a difference?” you asked.
“Of course, hon. If I’d known…” She shook her head.
“It’s fine. I won’t make it weird. We can still be friends. It’ll be like you never knew,” you said, panic beginning to set in. You were desperate not to lose her in all of this. This was like your worst nightmare coming to life before your very eyes.
“I didn’t just break up with Gary because he wanted to get married,” she said, interrupting you before you could continue rambling your reassurances, “there was a part of me that knew I had feelings for you. He couldn’t be my miracle when there was someone else.”
“What?” You couldn’t comprehend what she was saying.
“I wish you’d said something earlier, hon. If I’d known then Gary and I would have never gotten to this point,” she said. Her hands were still moving further up your legs until they were holding your hips.
“I don’t understand,” you said.
“Hon, I’m saying I have feelings for you too,” she said, a smile breaking over her face, bright and heartbreaking and everything you’d wanted to see for so long, “I know this probably isn’t the right time to say it but you’re hot and I like you.”
“You just broke up with Gary,” you said.
“I did. Doesn’t change how I feel about you,” she said, shrugging.
“This is an emotional rollercoaster.” Your lips stretched into a smile, small and soft and the way she seemed to melt at the sight of it only had you reeling again, “isn’t this too soon?”
“Yeah, probably, so we’ll take it slow,” she said.
“Slow?”
“Look, I dunno how this is gonna go but I do know that I like you enough that I want to give this a go. I’ve been single for a few hours and I’m probably going to have to deal with stuff from ending my relationship with Gary so we’ll take it slow and figure it out together. Sound good?”
You thought about it, turning it over in your mind. You’d thought, in your wildest dreams, that if you were offered the chance to be with Melissa you’d grab it with both hands but coming right off the back of her break up it felt… tenuous. But giving it a chance might be the best thing you could do, if only to not have to think about the what if on your death bed.
“Slow sounds good,” you said.
She relaxed, as if she’d been bracing herself for rejection. The smile on her face grew more sure of itself, more playful as she lent in. You shivered when her breath hit your skin, and you looked up into sparkling green eyes. You felt your cheeks heat up under her gaze and blinked, trying to take in her beauty. Trapping your bottom lip between your teeth, you worried at it, breath frozen, watching her with wide eyes and racing heart.
“Must say, hon, you’re pretty cute when you’re nervous,” she said.
“Nervous?” you managed to squeak out, “I’m not nervous.”
“No?” she asked, drawing closer again, lips brushing the shell of your ear as she whispered, “are you sure?”
“Mel,” came out as a strangled noise, “this doesn’t feel slow.”
“Feels like I’m moving pretty slowly to me,” she replied, lips slow to press to your cheek.
A small noise came from your parted lips. She chuckled, drawing back far enough for you to see the way her eyes were smouldering as they focused in on your lips. You found yourself leaning toward her, drawn into her orbit, the gravity of her dragging you closer.
“I suppose one kiss isn’t so fast,” you murmured.
“I’m glad you agree,” she said.
Her lips pressed to yours, muffling a gasp. Arms wound around her neck, fingers burying themselves in red curls. Her fingers dug into your hips, hauling you closer until you were on the edge of the desk, her body caught between your thighs. Her tongue ran along your lower lip, teeth nipping when you moaned into her mouth.
If this was slow, you could get on board with it.
She drew back, making you whimper, fingers tightening on her hair. She placed one last chaste kiss to your lips before disentangling your fingers. The step she took back made you feel bereft before you reminded yourself that today wasn’t about you. You couldn’t imagine the emotional rollercoaster she’d been on that day. Your’s had been bad enough.
“Can we renegotiate this going slow thing?” she asked.
“No,” you laughed, no matter how much you wished you could, “we should go slow. I mean, what are your plans tonight?”
“Drinking wine until I don’t feel embarrassed that I turned down a proposal in front of Jalen Hurts,” she replied.
“Exactly,” you said, giving her an indulgent smile even as your heart raced.
She chuckled, shoving her hands into her jacket pockets, taking another step back from you. Your teeth sunk into your lip, swollen from her kisses, as you considered her.
“You might be onto something,” she said.
“But maybe, when the embarrassment has dimmed a bit, we can go out,” you said.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” she said.
“Great, well…” A smile was taking over your face, “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“I suppose you will,” she said.
Watching her back out of the room, all you wanted to do was reach out and pull her back to you. She paused in the doorway before she strode back to you, both hands cupping your cheeks and kissing you so thoroughly you lost any train of thought you might have been having. Nodding to herself, she turned her back on you, striding out. You watched her, dumbstruck, wondering how you’d somehow managed to get so lucky.
From the absolute travesty of seeing Gary propose to her to ending with the promise of a date and the taste of her still on your lips. You had no idea how you’d gotten so lucky.

➤𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 || Stanley Pines ||
Song Inspo:
A/n: I loooove this song and I think it fits perfectly for Stan 🤭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting out of New Jersey...out of this dump town, far away was the first thing on his mind though of course that plan soon went out the window the moment you told him you were pregnant.
All he could think about was I'm too young for this.
Got my whole life ahead.Hell I'm just a kid myself.
How'm I gonna raise one.
Pressing his back against the locker he didn't even know how to tell his father. Running his hand down his face. Everything in his bones was telling him to go after you but he just felt numb, he could almost hear his father's voice yelling at him for being so careless.
All he could see were his dreams goin' up in smoke.
So much for ditchin' this town and hangin' out on the coast.
Oh well, those plans are long gone.
And he said
"There goes my life. There goes my future, my everything.Might as well kiss it all good-bye."Stan muttered hitting his head against the locker.
"There goes my life."
Taking a deep breath, he stood up then shook his head, he had to deal with this. He was going to be a father....with you with the woman he loved.
Smiling to himself, he rushed off to find you. He had to let you know he will always be with you.
Stan owed a lot to your parents for not kicking you out like his father did, for taking him in. Pressing his face to your belly a sigh escaped his lips as he glanced up at you with a nervous smile.
"You think I'll be a good dad?"
"Stan....you'll be a wonderful father...someone who is as sweet and loyal as their father."
Heat rose to Stan's cheeks, a mix of embarrassment and bashfulness.
"Oh stop it...don't start this now. You're gonna turn me all soft 'n sappy..." he muttered, looking up at you he let out a huff, his expression softening even more.
"I'm just...I'm blown away, princess. I never thought I'd ever get to do the whole family thing...let alone with a beautiful woman like you."
"Well let's just say we're both lucky Stan."
A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later.
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator.
Oh yeah..........he loves that little girl.
Chasing after his little girl, Stan grasped her, lifting her in his arms. "Gotcha! It's bed time squirt! You can cause trouble at Uncle Ford's tomorrow."
Holding her tight, he did his best to not trip over her toy's that littered the ground. Glancing at the fridge his gaze softened seeing a her little drawings, a smile forming on his lips as he placed her down. His daughter eagerly crawling up the stairs to where you were waiting.
Momma's waiting to tuck her in,As she fumbles up those stairs.
She smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear.
Glancing back, the little girl gave her father a bright smile as she finally made it to your arms. Nuzzling into your chest, you gave Stan a smile of your own as you carried her off to her bedroom.
"Sleep tight, pretty eyes and bouncin' curls." He whispered brushing away a few tears.
He finally found his happiness, he finally felt whole thanks to you and his little girl.
He smiles.....
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you, daddy good-night.There goes my life.
Packing the rest of her things in the car, she tucked a strand of her hair behind ear as she then watched her father to look the car over.
She had that Honda loaded down.
With Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express.
Rubbing the back of his neck, Stan cleared out his throat as he checked over the car one last time. His little girl wasn't so little anymore. She looked so much like you he wasn't so sure that he wanted to send her off on her own.
He then checked the oil and slammed the hood
"you're good to go princess"
Blinking back her tears, she rushed towards you and Stan, hugging you both goodbye. "I'll see you both in a few months." Stepping back she smiled then slipped into the car as she drove away.
Feeling tears prick his eyes, Stan let his arms wrap around your waist as he held you close
And he cried
"There goes my life. There goes my future, my everything.I love you.Baby good-bye."
There goes my life.
There goes my life.
Baby good-bye.

Ghoul Hair Headcanons
This wouldn't leave my brain until I put it out into the world
Dewdrop/Sodo
Pin straight corn blonde that goes to his mid back
Very thin
Dry and damaged from his fire transition (Cumulus bullies him into letting her put oils and serums in it to help. He won't admit that he likes it)
Will wash his hair everyday/every time he takes a shower. This is sometimes multiple times a day. (Cumulus and Rain cry in despair)
Cowlick at the front part. Annoys the shit out of him when it dries funny
Let's his hair air dry after a shower
His hair used to be normally oily pre fire transition from the ministry's lake but noticed that if he swims for long periods of time his hair will be greasy and gross
Leaves hair EVERYWHERE. In the shower, on the furniture, clothes, you.
Uses everyone else's shampoo and conditioner bc he's too lazy to get his own
Will wear it up in a spider clip when practicing
Doesn't like people touching it, will let the other ghouls braid/style it on occasions or if they give him their best puppy dog eyes long enough
Somehow manages to not have bed head. Wakes up and his hair is fine. The pack considers this the 8th wonder of the world
Gets annoyed when his hair gets caught in his mask/balaclava bc he was too lazy to either tie it up himself or let one of the others do it for him preshow
Rain
Wavy hair that curls up just under his ears, blackish almost dark blue in certain light
Hair defies logic, will curl/wave in patterns that don't make sense
Uses 837+ products in it to make it glossy and soft after swimming (screams internally after Dew leaves barely a squirt of shampoo left in the shower and doesn't replace it)
Sleeps with a silk pillowcase
Will pin his hair back with pearl barrettes that papa gifted him
BEDHEAD. The WORST BEDHEAD out of all the ghouls. Wakes up looking like he lost a fight with a moose
Will let anyone run their fingers through it/brush it/style it. He will make you wash your hands beforehand though
Dries it using a cotton T-shirt. Usually the one he was wearing pre-shower
Washes his hair every 3-5 days
Mountain
Brown 3b curly mullet/Mohawk
Shaves the sides bc he finds the hair tickling his ears and horns annoying
Usually has leaves or flowers caught in his hair
Bangs cover his eyes
Cowlick at the crown of his head
Oil? Seums? Who is she, bc Mountain has never heard of her
His horns make headbands impossible so he will use bobby pins to keep his bangs out of the way while in the greenhouse or practicing
Bobby pins are everywhere. In the greenhouse, the practice room, living room, kitchen, EVERYWHERE
Consequently knows how to lockpick doors with said Bobby pins. No he will not tell you how he knows how to do this
Wraps his hair in silk handkerchiefs to sleep
Will wash his hair once a week if he remembers
Shakes his hair out like a dog to dry unless one of the others corner him with the Dyson hair dryer. (He won't admit that he hates the sound it makes)
Will throw in leave in conditioner overnight
Let's Phantom and Aurora put in cute clips that he forgets about
Once showed up to practice with a head full of colorful butterfly clips bc he forgot about them. Copia didn't say anything, wanted to see how long it would take Mount to notice while head banging. He didn't notice the entire practice until one flew off and hit his drum set
Swiss
Dark brownish black locs, sometimes will braid in colors if he's feeling like it. Mostly dark colors like burgundy or purple. Has been convinced to do gold before tours by the others
JEWELRY!!! LOTS of metal rings, cuffs and jewels. Loves being the shiniest thing in the room
Has as many if not more hair care products than Rain. Takes care to make sure his hair doesn't get damaged and is healthy
Sleeps with a silk bonnet to protect his hair
Has done fun style like space buns with his locs but will usually leave it down or in a top knot
Will wash it every 7-10 days or so unless it gets super dirty
Will take care of the rest of the packs hair, is the pack mom about it
Dew/Sodo frustrates the HELL out of him. What do you mean you don't use conditioner??
Will chew on the cuffs like a fidget toy
Takes great pride in his hair, will spend forever in the bathroom if you let him
If his hair isn't cooperating with him, that's it for the day you will not see him
Has injured himself/others while practicing from all the metal in his hair while headbanging/throwing himself around (was forced to wear a cone of shame during the rest of that practice)
Phantom/Aeon
Very wavy almost curly black hair with white streak on the left side
Hair thins out and curls around his shoulders with whispy bangs
Wolf cut girlie ✨
Soft and fluffy, loves to have his scalp scratched and hair played with. Will absolutely fall asleep while it's being done
Has tinted his hair with purple bc he likes the aesthetic
The others have found him in the bathroom at 3am with scissors bc he saw a trend on TikTok and wanted to try it (he was banned from scissors for 3 months)
Swiss cried when he saw it in the morning (what did you do??)
Forgets to wash his hair but is still better than Mountain about it
Washes every 5-7 days
Originally would use a towel to dry until he found the Dyson and now is a menace
Will chew on his hair until it's brought to his attention
Headbands, headbands, HEADBANDS! LOVES THEM.
Has demon horns ones, cat ear ones, regular ones, even those zig zag ones that hurt he doesn't care he loves them
Will use whatever's in the bathroom but prefers softer smelling products
Hates hairspray with a passion
Doesn't sleep with any special pillow cases, etc
Double cowlick where his bags sit and at the crown
Gets really REALLY bad knots at the base of his skull. Will cry when Swiss or Cumulus has to brush them out
Aether
Strawberry blonde short hair and shaved on the sides
Slicked back fade, likes the greaser look from the 50s
Do not touch this man's hair
Not only is it slicked back with 50lbs of product he will also bite you
Has sideburns
Somehow still uses 3-in-1 despite being picky about how his hair looks
Will sing into the hair dryer while using it
Hair is dry, not damaged but definitely not hydrated/healthy enough
Doesn't wear any accessories except for a beanie in the winter
Looks like a peacock in the morning, hair is just everywhere. Sticks up in every direction when he wakes up
Washes it everyday due to the product he puts in it
Fell asleep on the tour bus once and there was a grease spot left from his hair gel
Uses hair pomade that smells like vanilla and sandalwood
Goes through a jar of pomade every two days. The ministry's budget is crying, shaking in their boots bc of this ghouls usage of hair gel
Is a walking fire hazard from the gel
Cumulus
4b curl pattern, rocks the afro with bangs
Natural color is a dark reddish brown but dyes it fun colors like sky blue
Loves to tie it up with a cute designed handkerchief or bun, etc
Will accessorize with butterfly clips or spiral hair wyrms/Jewels
Washes it once a week but uses hair oils/serums daily
Bullies Dew/Sodo into letting her care for his hair
Is the go to for hair advice after Swiss
Uses a silk bonnet and silk pillowcase to sleep
Will use a cotton T-shirt to dry it/scrunch it and then finishes with the dyson
Second biggest hair shedder after Dew/Sodo
Will style it like Rosie the Riveter for practice
Doesn't like it when people touch her hair unless they ask first
Even then the answer may be no
Likes floral scented shampoo/conditioner
Aurora
Straight flat hair with choppy bags
THICCCC hair, goes to the bottom of her shoulder blades
Platinum blonde but dyed underneath
Enjoys the shocked gasps she gets when she pulls her hair up to show the rainbow underneath
Doesn't hold a curl for the life of her, she's tried
Usually keeps her hair down, will do a low ponytail for practice

Aemond had taken much longer than a week, and things had certainly not been peaceful in the house ever since. The girls had lost their mind upon learning that not only had you finally accepted Aemond, but you were to marry. Of course, you’d explained the past betrothal and the reason behind his insistence, and they’d swooned at the idea of a prince searching for his long lost love, to which you reminded them you had never met when this first proposal happened.
That didn’t deter them one bit, and when he sent word of when he’d come to get you, they’d passed the letter around to read it and gushed.
According to witnesses, Sylvi broke a goblet upon hearing the news, and locked herself in her room to avoid others ever since. She was not the type to cause a scene, but she would not play nice to keep the peace, either.
When that day finally did arrive, the girls had  insisted on trying to  make you look presentable. Brushing the knots from your hair, applying a light rouge and smelling oils. They’d each given you something of theirs. Necklaces, trinkets, things to remember them by.
“As if I could ever forget you girls.” You’d said when Maria insisted on you having her favorite hair pin. “Thank you so much.” She pulled you into a deep hug, squeezing as if to commit the feel to memory.
“You know you’ll never see us again, when you marry?” Zora’s flat voice made the girls shoot her annoyed looks. “It won’t do for a princess to visit a whorehouse, and we can’t exactly go to the castle at leisure.”
“My situation is unlike other Ladies, I’m sure they would make an exception for me. I’ll come back, even if I have to sneak away.” They smiled, but they didn’t reach their eyes. There was something very final about this goodbye, even with the promises made.
“Sylvi made sure to be busy today, didn’t she?” Maria joked with a dry chuckle, likely an attempt to change the subject. “She’s probably in some back alley, crying herself to death.”
“Have compassion, she’s losing her two favorite people in one day.” Lauryn’s sarcastic jab at you made you sigh and look away.
“I’m sure I won’t be missed in that regard. Besides, it’s probably for the best that we leave things as they were. Before all this.” You gestured to your packed bags.
Sounds of hoofs on the cobblestone brought everyone’s attention outside, where a carriage was pulling up to the entrance. The girls crowded the entryway, looking on to see if someone would step out of the carriage. When only a footman appeared in front of you, you had to swallow down the disappointment you felt at Aemond not being present to take you to the castle.
“My Lady, the Prince sends his deepest apologies that he could not be here himself to retrieve you. Urgent matters have kept him at the castle, but be assured, he is there awaiting your arrival. If I could grab your things.” The girls began lugging out your trunk. You’d not accumulated much over the years, and what you had, you couldn’t use in the keep. Most of what you were bringing were gifts from the other girls.
You’d thanked the footman for loading your luggage for you, and turned to say your final goodbyes to everyone before he helped you into the carriage.
“It won’t be long, ma’am.” He’d reassured you, and you’d nodded and smiled before settling into the seat as he closed the door and set off.
The ride hadn’t been long, though it had felt like an eternity. When you stopped to let the gates open, you’d considered jumping out and making a run for it, but you knew that was just jitters.
The carriage pulled in to the gates, and made its’ final stop, the footman stepping down and opening the door to let you out.
You immediately began searching for Aemond, but to your dismay he wasn’t there, only who you’d assumed to be Dowager Queen Alicent, and Queen Helaena. You walked to greet them, bowing as well as you’d remembered.
“It’s a shame your parents couldn’t be here with you. Aemond sent for them days ago, so they should arrive within the next few days.” Alicent’s voice was stressed, as if she carried the weight of the seven kingdoms on her shoulders, and you could tell she was not happy to be the one sent to greet you. “I’ll have a maid show you to your chambers, I’m sure you’ll want to prepare yourself for dinner.” You spoke before she could turn away.
“I had hoped to see Aemond.”
“Yes, well the prince is kept very busy around here, his brother, the king, keeps him close. Especially with the war coming, as you know Aemond is invaluable in our efforts.”
Something in her words told you she meant to say you’re here to keep Aemond happy. You nodded, showing the disappointment clearly on your face.
“He’ll find you before dinner, I’m sure.” She turned to walk away, stopping to order a maid, which you followed to your chambers.
The chambers were grand, as expected, but you were not overwhelmed by them. You were more concerned with your betrothed and his presence. Or absence, moreso. You’d been left to your devices, choosing to sit on a settee and twiddle your fingers, sigh, and huff in frustration. In reality, it had only been about half an hour before your door opened, revealing the one person you had been waiting to see.
“Aemond!” You jumped up from your seat, meeting him halfway and pulling him into a tight embrace. “You did not come to retrieve me this morning. You did not even greet me.”
“My apologies, my lady wife. The King has kept me very busy, I would’ve  put off your retrieval again so I could get you myself, but I could not wait to have you here.” He kissed your scalp, inhaling the scent curiously. “You smell nice, I’ve missed it. I’ve missed you.” He pulled away to hold your hands in his before leaning in for a kiss, which you happily reciprocated.
Aemond’s hands met your waist, pulling you against him and wrapping his arms around you to hold you close to him. You wrapped your arms around his neck, hands tangling with his snowy hair, and pulling him to deepen the kiss. Your lips moved in sync with one another, a display of passion and desire so strong it could stop the world. Your tongue reached out to meet his, rough and unlike his smooth lips, and you would’ve heard him groan if not for the sound of your heart thumping in your ears.
He pulled away to catch his breath, resting his forehead against yours and panting.
“I’ve missed you, too.” You smiled up at him, pulling away to sit on the soft bed. You patted the spot beside you, and he quickly joined at your side.
“The wedding is in two weeks, I’ve made the necessary arrangements, I hope you find it to your liking.”
“I don’t care what the wedding looks like, only the groom.” His lips turned up at that. “Your mother said my parents will be here soon, I can’t wait to see them again. Will there be many other guests?”
“Likely our allied houses, but they shouldn’t arrive for at least a week’s time. I’ve tried my best to clear my schedule after the wedding, but it seems the war is coming faster than any of us had anticipated. I had even thought to steal my bride away on Vhagar, even for a short while.”
“I understand, Aemond. You’re needed here.” Your words were meant to be reassuring, but the lilt in your voice betrayed you. “I had only hoped we’d have more time to know each other, and…to make up for the lost time.”
“We’ll do plenty of making up, don’t you worry.” His sly smirk sent a shiver down your spine, both of fear and desire. “My mother had requested to have you checked to see if you were still pure, but I assured her of your innocence. She did not believe me, of course, but she had dropped the matter. I think she is just happy for me.” He leaned in to place a soft kiss on your jawline, his large hand going to the nape of your neck, to massage the tight muscle, earning a grown from you. “I like that noise.” His kisses traveled down to your collarbone, and his hands began massaging your waist.
You were nervous to explore Aemond more than you already had. To explore anyone, really. You’d never even thought about what would happen on your wedding night, because you’d never considered you’d have a wedding night. Years of rejecting any sense of affection had left you uneducated in the personal ways of lovemaking. Of course you’d heard things, and even seen things, but that was just sex. You and Aemond were meant to make love, and sire heirs. How different was that from what you’d seen in the whorehouse? Did he expect you to have much experience because of where you’d been? He knew you were a virgin, but perhaps he thought they’d taught you things.
Your thoughts were beginning to blur as you felt him begin to push you back on the bed. You pulled away from him in a panic and stood, pacing away from the bed.
“Are you alright?” He was breathless and obviously a little taken aback by your sudden retreat, combing through his hair and rubbing his lips together.
“Yes! Yes, I am fine. I just think…” You scanned your brain for some reason that wouldn’t seem like rejection, finding none. “I am afraid, Aemond.”
“Of me.” He nodded in understanding.
“No! Gods, no. Of…well, yes, of you. But, not of you, of…you know…you.” You gestured towards his groin, unable to force the words out of your mouth. It was embarrassing to have lived among whores and not even be able to say the word sex, and even more embarrassing to have to explain your situation to Aemond, of all people, who you had met in a whorehouse. His chuckle only served to further your mortification. “Well, do not laugh! I am a lady, after all. I should not know of these things, or how to speak of them.”
“I mean no offense, my lady. Only that I had not expected such bashful demeanor from you. Especially after our night in your rooms.”
“That was just kissing. And I was…swept away, in your passionate words and gestures. This would be different, it would mean…well, I could get pregnant.”
“Yes.” He nodded. “Now, or in two weeks' time, when we consummate our marriage. Either way, I’m happy to wait, lady wife. But you must not be so alluring in these coming weeks. You can hardly expect a man to resist you.” He stood from your bed, and stepped over to the settee in front of the fireplace. “Perhaps we should avoid the bed as well.”
“I was not being alluring, I was simply being myself. A woman should do that in front of her betrothed, so he knows she is a match.”
“Yourself is the most alluring thing you could be in my presence.” That struck you speechless, and you elected to just walk over to where he was sitting, too awkward to sit with him normally. “Perhaps a tour of the keep.” He sighed, standing up to guide you out of the room.
The next two days had passed rather dully, with Aemond holding you at an arm's length, and preferring to meet you in public. You’d been on walks, dined together, and made a few last minute wedding decisions for the upcoming nuptials.
You were sitting in the garden with Aemond when you heard the gates to the red keep begin opening. You could only assume it was your parents, as no other guests were set to arrive any day soon. You quickly rushed to welcome them, leaving the flowers you had been weaving on the ground along with Aemond, who rose to follow you.
Reuniting with your parents had been a dream, they had taken you into their arms and sobbed, as had you. Your mother had a few choice words about your disappearance, but understood the reasoning of a scared young girl. Besides, things had seemed to work themself out in the end.
You’d stayed with your parents all the way up until after dinner, when they both  showed signs of fatigue, at which point Aemond had elected to walk you to your chambers, taking deliberate slow steps to prolong the moment alone.
“Are you happy with your reunification?”
“Oh, Aemond, I don’t know how I could ever thank you. They’re just as I remember them, but so much more. I can tell how my leaving hurt them, and I don’t think we can ever get that time back. But now, thanks to you, they know I am well and safe. I am truly in your debt.”
“Consider it a wedding gift.” He had shrugged as you reached your doors. The guards immediately opened the door for you, and you stepped in slowly before turning back to him. “Might I come in? Just for a moment, there’s something I wanted to discuss about our wedding.”
He came in at your nod, the doors closing behind the two of you. You had began undoing your hair from the tight wound updo. Aemond had watched in silence for a while, until you reminded him of his needed discussion.
“I had been giving thought to our wedding night.” You swallowed the lump in your throat.
“What of it?”
“Will you not find it difficult to bear a bedding ceremony?”
“Are those not outdated?”
“They’re tradition. My mother has been rather insistent on it.”
“But it is not your mother’s wedding, it is your wedding. Do you want a bedding ceremony?” As your hair was finally let down, you began brushing out the knots. Aemond had hummed in response to your question, causing you to sigh. “I do not wish to be subjected to the eyes of strangers on what is supposed to be our night together. I want to be alone with you, we so rarely are anymore.”
“That is because I find it hard to be near you and not want you.” You rolled your eyes. “My mother will put up a fight over the ceremony, she wants to know that you are still a maiden. If it’s not a bedding ceremony, it could be the maesters. I do not know which one you’d find more unpleasant.”
“I will not do either, Aemond. I have lived a very difficult life off the premise of my own autonomy, and I will not turn my back to it now. Your mother will have to see reason. Or perhaps you should tell her you’ve already had me.” He looked stunned at this.
“Why would you say that?”
“If she thinks you’ve already…defiled me, there’ll be no question of my maidenhood, and no way to know if I’ve only had you, or others, so checking will be fruitless.” I set my brush down and turned towards him from my vanity chair.
“You would have me dishonor your already sullied name?” He seemed offended even at the thought, his voice shaking.
“As you said, my name is already sullied, what difference will it make? They think I’m a whore, Aemond!” I stood from my vanity and walked to stand before him. “They wish to make a mockery of me with these invasions. They don’t want to reassure themselves, they want to confirm what they already believe. I am not good enough for them, and they want a reason to reject this union.” His jaw ticked and his head shook slightly at the thought.
“I won’t let them reject it.”
“And how would you stop them?” I asked sarcastically.
“We simply do the ceremony! It is a woman’s expectation to be pure for her husband, and you are marrying a prince. It’s sound reasoning to expect this.”
“Well, perhaps that is another reason I ran away in the first place!” I turned from him, but he grabbed my arm and forced me to turn back around.
“I do not want to fight with you about this.” He sighed. “If you truly will not have it, we’ll just have to figure something else out.”
“They won’t let us marry, Aemond, I told you this. It was a fool’s dream to think you would have your way in this.”
“I’ll marry you now. Tonight. We’ll sneak to the Godswood and get married in the old way. They’ll have to recognize it, especially if we consummate.”
“You really want to fuck me, don’t you?” The joke was ill-timed, and a sad attempt to break the tension.
“I want to marry you. And I shall. Let’s go.”
“Right now?”
“They’ll not expect it. By the time anyone notices we’ve left, it’ll be too late.”
“But who will marry us? Do the old ways not call for the head of your house to consent?”
“Aegon?” He snorted. “That piss-soaked sack is probably deep in his cups tonight. It will be nothing to convince him. I’ll get him, and meet you in the Godswood. Wait a bit after I leave, and pretend as though you’re on a walk to clear your head. I’ll be there under the heart tree, waiting.”
You did as Aemond bid, sitting in the settee for a short while, finishing brushing through your hair and electing to wear it down. Finally, you decided to head towards the Godswood.
The walk there was relatively short, so you paused outside the entrance to the Godswood and took a few deep breaths.
“It is quite cold tonight for King’s Landing, no?” The voice of your mother made you turn around quickly, eyes wide and mouth agape.
“Mother! What are you doing out here?” The panic in your voice obviously raised suspicion.
“What are you doing out here? Unchaperoned, standing outside the Godswood?”
“I needed some air. Aemond and I had a fight, I needed to clear my head.” It wasn’t necessarily a lie, so saying it only made you feel half as bad.
“Is everything alright?”
“Oh, yes. His mother wants to force a bedding ceremony, but I don’t want one. Aemond says if I don’t do it, she’ll likely want a maester to confirm my maidenhood.”
“She questions your integrity?” She was obviously irked. “And what did Aemond say?” Her eyebrow quirked, and you could tell she already knew the answer, glancing into the Godswood before sighing.
“Mother…” You whispered.
“It’s not my place to tell you what you cannot do. If your Father knew…” She shook her head. “You are a woman grown now, and I can’t stop you if this is what you truly want to do.”
“It is. And I’m going to marry him anyways, this is just…a way for us to do it on our terms.”
“And will you forbid your mother from witnessing the union of her daughter?” You smiled, shaking your head and pulling her into a deep embrace.

✸ ꒰ morning routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆
👛 Tracy is definitely NOT a morning person, so everytime she wakes up the first thing she does is check her phone for a few minutes. After that she gets straight up and opens up her curtains to let the light in.
Then she goes to her bathroom and uses a hair band to get her hair out of the way so she can brush her teeth and wash her face with a gentle foam cleanser. After rinsing it out she uses her skincare products; toner sheets, serum, cream and a tinted sunscreen!
🌷 Now she changes clothes, Tracy usually wears cute knit tops with some plaid skirts in basic colors (white, gray or black) and she also wears some dainty jewelry and leg warmers. Remember to put on a hair roller to style your bangs while you do your makeup!
It's time for makeup! Tracy usually does the same makeup routine, eyebrows, mascara, eyeliner, blush, lip tint and a shiny highlighter, oh! also she only puts on a bit of concealer since the tinted sunscreen already works as a glowy foundation.
🍥 Clean your room a little before packing the last things on your bag and spraying perfume to you out to your uni / school or have brunch!
Tumblr media
✸ ꒰ study routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆
Tracy usually takes digital notes on notion! and she always includes useful links with videos and resources so she can review them later. For language learning though, she copies the vocab on a notebook and reads it before her test so she can have them fresh in her memory. She also always studies listening to ost of her favorite animes, kdramas or manhwas!
🩰 After a long day of school she likes to take a nap and have some rest!
Tumblr media
✸ ꒰ workout routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆
If you're curious on how Tracy takes care of her figure you need to know that walking plays a huge role in it! In her vlogs she always goes to most places entirely by walking! You can do this too and start counting how many steps you walk in a day.
🏩 Also you can try and dance to an energetic kpop song like Hype boy by NewJeans, practicing multiple times a day can definitely replace a workout routine!
Tumblr media
✸ ꒰ shower and self care routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆
If you want to have a selfcare, start your shower routine by taking a long bath, use a bath bomb, some bubbles and candles to set the mood, you can even use a little tray to watch kdramas like tracy!
🛍 Then you can play some music to actually take a shower, take care of your hair with shampoo and conditioner and then clean your body with a cleanser and a loofah.
When you're done it's time for skincare, use some toner pads, serum, moisturizer, eye cream and lip balm! also apply cream on your body and cuticle oil on your nails.
💞 Next you can dry your hair and use some leave-in products to have extra soft and shiny hair!
One of Tracy's keys to look extra cute and pretty always is to get appointments with professionals to get facials, lash perms, haircuts and her nails done!
Tumblr media
✸ ꒰ night routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆
👚 Tracy usually dines out with her friends or family! After she arrives home she gets comfy so she can have a long study session! If you're a night person, try and get all your assignments done at this time to feel extra productive! And don't forget to have a late night meal/snack.
After getting all her school work done she relax on her bed, often with a sheet mask on (specially on winter) and watch anime or dramas until she falls asleep
Good night!

CHAPTER ONE
synopsis you spent your entire childhood and teenage years being what your mother wanted you to be — and so when you finally strike a deal and made a bet with the woman, you are determined to prove her wrong and that your passion for art could be turned into a living if you just tried hard enough.
however, things might have just gotten harder when you cross paths with the lead vocalist of an uprising rock band who seems to be nothing but a charming thorn in your side
wc 2.0k
warnings not really any!
reblogs & comments are very appreciated and also help out a lot! thank you for reading and giving my work a chance ♥️
Tumblr media
a gentle sense of dread filled your chest as you hastily packed up your paint-smudged supplies after the art class you insisted on taking to hopefully better your skills for your overflowing passion. your mother always claimed it was a waste of time, trying to get you to venture off into the field of medicine but you always told her to let you at least try.
so, while you carefully wrapped your brushes in their familiar protective cloth and shoved them into the depths of your bag, you tried to keep your unease at bay. you had a few months until you and your mother decided which route your life will take — whether painting and music would be the way your heart will go to make a living or if you had to snuff out your spark and do what she wanted. a deal just to get where you are now and an attempt to prove her wrong.
the smell of oil paint clung to your fingers despite several washes in the sink, and you made a mental note to bring some hand sanitizer next time. you glanced back at the canvas, half-finished but bursting with color. maybe you could add just a tiny bit more to the whites and the sides, the corners looked as if it needed more of a pop. you sighed, running your fingers through your hair, your muse was running thin and you didn’t have time to recharge it when you had plans with yeosang tonight.
and speak of him, he shall make himself known. without missing a beat, your phone buzzed in your pocket and you took it out to read the text he had sent
yeosangie: still coming tn? gonna be short staffed and i’d die without you!
you pressed your lips together, laughing lightly to yourself as you read his dramatic text. the plans in question were you helping him bartend an event the pub he worked at was having, a new rising rock band would be playing there tonight which meant more business. in a way, in hindsight, meant a good deal but being understaffed out of all days made you watch your best friend lose his mind even before getting there.
you didn’t have any mixology skills, hell, even making hot chocolate at times came out different and at times.. watery, you surely did not have any sort of touch that could make any pleasing but yeosang insisted and you’d be just taking down anything being asked for and serving while he did the mixing and preparing.
you: yes sangie, i’m still coming lmao don’t be so dramatic!
yeosangie: ugh i’m being realistic!
with another light laugh, you shoved your phone back into your pocket and got up, making sure you had all of your things before heading out of the building. it was sunny, having to use your hand to shield your eyes while you made your way to the parking lot. you could feel your phone buzz again, assuming it was yeosang again but you weren’t able to think twice of it when your arm bumped into another
“watch where you’re going,” the voice was a bit harsh, not glancing back to where you were. you turned to their direction, he seemed in a rush to get inside which made you scowl. of course you all had places to be, but why did he get a pass to be rude?
“asshole,” you muttered under your breath, not wanting to let the blonde stranger dampen your mood and continued the route to your car
“he could have been having a bad day.” yeosang suggested while leaned back against the glass door, watching how you paced back and forth. you paused your movements to point over at him, “i was too but you don’t see me going all,” you cleared your throat and shifted your body to mimick how the stranger was, “watch it,” letting your voice drop a few octaves
yeosang pressed his lips together, as if trying to stifle his laugh, “is that how it went?”
you deadpanned, looking at him, “thats beyond the point!” you then groaned
sure, you weren’t entirely an asshole, you would have understood if the stranger had a bad day. but dear lord, all of your understanding went out the window the second he opened his mouth and you were glad you’d never see him again. “what do i gotta help with tonight?” you decided to steer the conversation before you got yourself too fired up again
yeosang clicked his tongue, lifting himself off the door so he could get behind the bar, “help me serve them, simple.” he shrugged, “i underestimated because this place is gonna be packed.” he cringed
“who even is the band anyways?” you asked while bringing in a box of different liquors, huffing as soon as you set it down onto the countertop, dusting your hands off on your worn-out jeans
“halazia,” he replied with a shrug, “wooyoung’s new project,” he added in and you laughed a little
“another one?” you tilted your head
yeosang nods, “but this one actually pulled through.”
and you nodded back as a response. you knew wooyoung the same amount as you knew yeosang, the two were practically a two for one deal and wherever yeosang went, wooyoung followed. it wasn’t a surprise that yeosang found a way to have wooyoung’s new band to play here, part of you also felt proud of the fact after the many attempts, wooyoung finally achieved what he strived for.
yet, another part of you hated how jealously bubbled in your core. when was it your turn?
the club was alive with the sound of loud rock music that played, the walls were practically shaking with each booming note. you could feel the bass in your chest from where you were behind the bar, hurriedly serving drinks to customers that were definitely not making it easier. shit, you swore you had a few spilled on you and felt sticky.
yeosang helped pour shots and took majority of the drinks to make while the crowd was wild, jumping and moshing to the music, you could have sworn you saw a few stage divers and crowd surfers. the smell of sweat and alcohol was thick in the air, yeosang glanced over at you as he handed over a tray of shots. "you holding up okay?" he yelled over the music.
you nodded, a bead of sweat dripping down your forehead. "i’m managing!”
you didn’t get to see the band or say hello to wooyoung as you maybe hoped, and you doubted you’d be able to enjoy the music with how business was being. “i’m glad you’re here! i would have definitely died,” yeosang said as he let out a breath, moving past you with a tray of filled to the top shots to a group
“oh yeah, i guess you were being realistic after all,” you poked fun as you ran your hands through your hair, ruffling it a bit and wiping the sweat with the back of your hand after while you heard him give an ‘i told you so!’
as you continued on, you could hear the loud vocals that were hitting you in the chest — you managed to steal a few glances to the stage where you noticed the band certainly deserved the hype, wooyoung knew what he was doing this time, you assumed he learned from past mistakes. speaking of, there he was in all his glory playing the bass with his signature charming smile as he mouthed the lyrics and interacted with the crowd, drenched in sweat and water he poured on himself during the last song
but your eyes couldn’t stay on him, oh no, your sight kept falling onto the lead vocalist who played the bass and belted the lyrics, the vein in his neck showing just how much power he was pouring to the crowd. “who is that?” you voiced over the music, leaning towards yeosang who followed your gaze
“kim hongjoong,“ yeosang answered as he let out a breath, relieved to be able to rest for a moment. “only spoke with him a few times, closed off guy but powerful as fuck on stage.”
you nodded as you let your gaze linger back to him, how free and at home he looked as he sang, “this is a wasteland, my only retreat.. with heaven above you, there’s hell over me.”
you couldn’t remember how the rest of the night went, most of it was a blur when you began helping yeosang pack up, “so how was that?” he amused, zipping up his bag as he glanced up at you
humming, you let out a breathy laugh, leaning back against the wall, “it was.. something.” you folded your arms over your chest, “we’re just waiting for wooyoung now, huh?”
and yeosang replies in a nod, “as usual.”
as if his name was a summoning ritual, wooyoung’s loud laugh became more prominent from the back, and there he was walking in with three others — one being the blonde you found yourself drawn to more than you’d want to admit
“ah, there’s my favorite artist!” wooyoung beamed as he ran over, leaving the three behind to rush over to you with his arms out
“hey woo,” you greeted with a smile as you let him engulf you in the tightest hug, the smell of his cologne suffocating your nose, it was safe to say he drenched himself after the show and you could see he was still lightly glazed with sweat. “alright! off! you’re still sweaty,” you exaggerated while giving him a tiny shove
wooyoung replied with a laugh and dragged out whine, “a little sweat never hurt anyone,” he huffed before ruffling your hair
“oh, yeah guys this is seonghwa and mingi,” wooyoung first introduced the two that caught up, seonghwa having some of his hair up and the rest down, his hair strands more pulled out at the front to frame his face, he certainly rocked that choker better than anyone you knew while mingi looked as if he was made for this genre
“nice to meet you,” seonghwa greeted with a polite grin, bowing as you smiled in response
“yeah, thanks for coming too,” mingi smiled
while you listened to them all talk, wooyoung being the one you heard the most, your eyes wandered to the back where you saw hongjoong on his phone, cigarette between his lips as he stayed apart from the rest. you weren’t sure why he was alone, eyebrow raised.
but your chest felt a bit heavier and breath hitched when he tilted his head and shifted to meet your gaze, blowing the smoke in the air. how could he make death look so marvelous?
“yah! joong, you can’t smoke in here, i’m not getting in trouble because of you,” yeosang broke the trance you were in as he scolded the blonde who rolled his eyes and took another long drag
“fine,” he exhaled, glancing at you before making his way out, blowing out the smoke as he pushed open the door and walked out
turning your attention back to the group, your brows furrowed together, “is he always like that?” and you wanted to simply ask if he was always an asshole but for the sake of being civil…
seonghwa sighed, “he’s not so bad, he just had a tough morning.”
mingi snickered, nodding while wooyoung groaned, “yeah but he made practice ten times more hard! all because of that girl he bumped into,”
“ah, sounds like your morning, y/n” yeosang humored as he grabbed his jacket
and you wanted to scowl, eyes glancing back to the window where you saw him focused on the nightsky, exhaling the smoke that he inhaled. “so he’s the asshole stranger.”
of course, makes sense.
“he’s not so bad once you get to know him,” seonghwa repeated with a reassuring smile
you shrugged, “and pigs can fly.” you muttered because certainly first impressions matter to you and with the pretty rockstar, he managed to have two and failed them both miserably
you just hoped you’d never have to see his stupid pretty face again.

Comfort in Goodbye
Summary - Part 48 in the Comfort series
Pairing - Dean Winchester x Reader, Reader x Sam (platonic), Reader x Bobby (father-figure), Andre (OG Character) x Reader (best friends), Garth x Bess
Series Masterlist | Masterlist
A/N: Sorry this one’s short again, I've been so busy with family stuff and so focused on the Christmas imagines that Friday snuck up on me. I hope you enjoy this chapter regardless. If you need a little extra Dean or Jensen fix you can check out my Christmas Imagines.
Tumblr media
Once Destiny is finally feeling a little happier and settled you all go into the kitchen to have breakfast as a family. By now it’s all cold so you reheat the food and make new coffee. Destiny tries a little bacon with her cow heart; she’s slowly getting used to trying out different human foods just so she can taste new things and have something that you can give her in public if necessary. She still needs the hearts for nutrients and to fuel her body and you and Dean are both coming to accept that and even get used to it. The oozing blood is still a little unsettling, especially dripping down her cheek or chin, but you try to compare it to the ketchup that Dean smears all over his face when eating.
With so much being said in the bedroom, none of you feel the need to talk anymore, so you share your yummy, if not slightly greasy, breakfast in comfortable silence. Once you finish you clear the table, Dean starts the dishes and then Destiny helps to dry up. You brought an old wooden stool in from one of the backrooms so she could reach the sink more easily to help. She loves to be helpful and join in the domestic things with you and Dean. As she finishes drying the dishes she hands them to you so you can put them back in their rightful home. The three of you follow this routine almost daily now so it’s almost like a well-oiled machine; it just feels right.
With the dishes washed, dried and put away Dean finally goes to find his brother while you take Destiny back to her room to brush her hair and get changed out of her pyjamas. You then leave her to play in her room for a few minutes while you get ready yourself.
As you’re tying your hair up in a ponytail Dean walks in and sits on your bed. “So, uh, Sam found a case…”
“I know. He told me, and I told him that you should go.”
“What? I thought…”
You take a seat beside him, facing him, and take his hands in yours and place them in your lap. “You’re unsettled, restless and starting to unintentionally take it out on me and Destiny. I can handle your outbursts, I’m used to them. She can’t. You need to be out there. We agreed on weening you off the hunts. Cold turkey doesn’t work for you, that’s become abundantly clear.”
“I said I wouldn’t. What about…”
You kiss his cheek. “Dean, Baby. It’s okay. You need to go let off some steam and it’s better you unleash it on a real monster that’s doing real bad than our family or our little girl who’s trying her best to be good. I love you and it’s okay. I know who I married.”
He leans forward and kisses you softly. “Only if you’re completely sure?”
“I am. It’s okay. I just have a couple of requests…”
“Name your price, Sweetheart, anything.”
“Be careful and come home safe.”
He kisses you again. “I promise.”
“Good. Then you go out there and make our world a little bit safer.”
“I love you.”
“You prove that every day. But I do love hearing it too. And I love you.” This time you lean forward and kiss him. You both make the most of the fleeting privacy and make out for a while before he pulls away.
“Think she’ll be sleeping in her own room by the time I come back?”
“No promises.”
He sighs. “I have to pack and go before I change my mind and stay here with you in this bed.”
“I’ll be waiting for you.”
“Good.” He kisses you again and then drags himself off the bed to pack his duffle which has been sitting abandoned in the back of the wardrobe. He stuffs in a few days' worth of clothes and then heads down to the armoury where you’re now storing all the weapons to gather everything else he needs.
While he packs you go into Destiny’s room and carefully explain that Sam and Dean have to go away for a few days. You sit on her bed as she’s playing with dolls like a normal child.
“Hey, Sweetie.” She puts the dolls down and crawls over to you. “Are you ready to go out? Get some more stuff to make this room feel more like you’re own. Maybe get some nice new outfits?”
She nods and stands up quickly but you softly grab her wrist and pull her into your lap. “For the next few days, it’s just gonna be you and me, okay?”
“Where Dean going?”
“He and Sam have to take care of something out of town. But they’re gonna come home as soon as they can, okay?”
“Like a hunt?”
You nod. “Yeah, it’s a hunt. But what they’re hunting is doing real bad. It’s hurting people. So they’re just gonna go check it out and see what they can do.”
“Okay…”
“I know you’re still adjusting here, so are we. But Dean needs to do this so he can continue to adjust. So, we’re gonna have a few girls' days! Shopping, makeup, slumber parties, baking, all the fun stuff that Dean grumbles out. How’s that sound?”
“Fun!”
“Awesome! Once Sam and Dean are ready to go then we’ll head out as well. Come on.”
You stop by your room to grab your jacket and handbag before leading her out to the garage where the boys are packing the Impala. Once Dean shuts the trunk he looks up and sees you and Destiny standing in the doorway.
“Look at this, Sammy, we got ourselves a send-off party,” he says with a smirk. He wanders over and kneels down to hug Destiny first. “You be good for Y/N now, won’t you?” She nods. “Good girl. I’m gonna miss you kid, but I’ll be back soon.”
“I miss you too,” she says as she hugs him.
He kisses the top of her head before standing up and focusing on you. He pulls you in for a tight hug and then kisses you deeply. When he pulls back he whispers, “I love you, Mrs. Winchester. I’ll be back before you know it.”
You smile and blush. “I love you too, Mr Winchester. I’ll be waiting. Stay safe.”
“Always. Especially now that I have something to come home to.”
You kiss him again before pulling away and pushing him away towards the car. “Now go on, we have a girls' weekend to start,” you say with a smile to hide the pain of saying goodbye.
Dean smiles at you as he gets in the car. “Come on, Sammy!”
“You stay safe too, Sam,” you say and you pick Destiny up and sit her on your hip. You both stay there and wave until they’re out of sight. Then you grab the keys to the red car you love so much and drive into Lebanon.

~Gonna crack a rib when I get home~
Prev - Next Chapter
Tumblr media
At the Larusso house Sam, Chris, Demetri, and a few others sat watching movies. "Well, this Christmas party's turning out to be ho-ho-horrible," Demetri said, making Sam look at him.
"Yeah, Sam. I thought you said your parents were going to be out for the night. So why aren't we throwing a rager?" Chris asked.
"There's a keg on the way. It's just gonna be a few more minute s." Sam said as she paced back and forth, not helping with her friend's boredom.
"Can we at least put on a Christmas special? I'd even watch that creepy one with the little elf dentist." Demetri said, making Sam wrinkle her nose. "Yeah, I'm that bored." He said.
The doorbell rang, catching her attention. "It's here." She told them as she walked over to the door. The others turned around to watch as Sam opened the door, and Miguel, Mitch, and Bert walked in.
The other two boys looked confused at Miguel. The Miyagi-Do students quickly got to their feet. "Oh hell no," Chris said as they walked over.
"What the hell are you doing here? This isn't a keg party." Mitch said in disappointment and slight anger.
"Wait… You Parent Trapped Us? Why?" Demetri asked Sam.
"Look, I know we haven't always gotten along, but Cobra Kai is the bigger threat now. To all of us." She spoke, turning to face Miguel.
"We think we'd stand a better chance against them if we joined forces. Two dojos are stronger than one." He added. "Look I know we've all done shitty things," Miguel said, looking at the group.
"Like breaking Demetri's arm." Chris gave Mitch an accusing look.
"You started that fight." Mitch shot back, his eyes narrowed.
"After you almost got me fired!"
Miguel looked at Sam with a shake of his head, "This isn't going to work."
"It has to. We have one last shot at getting things right. Alone, we're nothing but if we work together, we have a shot. If we can't get over the past , the fighting will never end . We have to confront our enemies. This rivalry has to stop. One way or another." Sam said to the group.
“Is… Our other guest here?” Miguel asked and Sam sucked in a breath.
“Uh, she’s not here yet.” Sam pursed her lips. As soon as she said that, a voice broke through the awkward silence.
“Oh, shit! Sorry, I’m late. My brother had me babysit my cat for a bit longer than usual.” Trixie brushed her hand through her blue hair, huffing hard as she looked between the two dojos. “I’m really late, aren’t I?”
“What the hell is she doing here?! She’s a Cobra!” Chris exclaimed.
“Well, that’s one thing we can agree on,” Mitch said and Trixie rolled her eyes.
“Shut it, Penis Breath. I didn’t do shit to any of you.” Trixie crossed her arms. Miguel placed a hand on the girl’s back.
“Um, I know that Trixie’s in Cobra Kai, but this is just a party for her. Nothing personal.” Miguel said, “She’s been neutral the whole time our dojos have been fighting.”
“I still don’t trust her.” Mitch crossed his arms.
“She was the one that called 911 when I broke my arm.” Demetri defended and Sam nodded.
“I mean, she did pay me money at the arcade. It sort of saved my job.” Chris muttered under his breath.
“Trixie might be a Cobra, but she doesn’t act like a pussy.” Miguel said.
Trixie looked between the two dojos before smiling slightly. “I brought beer if that helps.” Trixie offered, holding up two six-packs of beer.
Sam and Miguel stood before the two dojos. " I don't know how to say this any plainer. Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do have to work together." She said in a desperate voice. Chris looked at them.
Eventually, the group of them sat down in the living room. Trixie sat down next to Miguel, whose hand was pressed against her back for support.
"Even if we wanted to team up, it'd never work. I was in Cobra Kai. Their style mixes with ours like..." Nathaniel turned to him.
"Oil and vinegar?" He offered.
Chris looked at him. "No, not salad dressing. I would say like the British Bulldogs and the Hart Foundation."
Mitch turned to look at him. "They were friends, dipshit." He said in a bitter tone.
"Not at WrestleMania 3, Penis Breath." Chris shot back.
Mitch turned fully to face him. "Ok, you can't call me Penis Breath. Only they can call me Penis Breath." He gestured to Miguel and Bert.
"Why are you okay with anyone calling you Penis Breath?" Chris asked him.
"You know what? Screw this. Come on, let's go." Mitch said as he stood up. Bert followed after him.
“Look, I don’t think the idea of Cobra Kai is the problem!” Trixie called out to them, “We knew the students of Cobra Kai at some point, they were different. It’s Kreese that’s the real problem. He’ll get into your head, and make you feel strong. If this is what beats the stupid game he’s playing, then so be it.”
"Trixie’s right, this is exactly what those assholes at Cobra Kai want. Since you were one of ‘em , you're an asshole too. So are you." He pointed from then two then Chris. Chris looked at him.
"I ain't no asshole." He said in a plain simple tone but Demetri wasn't listening.
"So was I. Well, at least I wanted to be one. But now Cobra Kai is the worst collection of assholes in the Valley, run by the king of all assholes. So if merging with Eagle Fang- weird name by the way- can keep us all from getting shit on anymore, then we'd all be assholes not to do it. I'm sorry for all the "assholes ". I usually take pride in my grandiloquence , but it's an emotional time." He finished. Everyone glanced at each other, taking in the boys' words.
“Maybe we should talk this out at the dining table?” Trixie suggested. Everyone reluctantly agreed, everyone sitting down but Sam, Miguel, and Demetri.
Demetri held a notebook. " We're all in agreement that our new combined dojo should train at Miyagi-Do. But deadlocked on a new name, Gi design, post-training snacks, and Sensei dispute resolution protocol. Okay, not good, but still, it's a start."
They turned to look at the door when they heard a cat meowing. Bert smiled. "Aw, I think your cat wants to come in. Here, kitty, kitty." He said as he got up and walked to the door, going outside.
Miguel turned to Sam. "I didn't know you had a cat."
Sam looked confused. "We don't."
Just then, Bert was thrown through the kitchen window that was above the sink, hitting the floor hard. Everyone quickly got to their feet and hurried over to him. "Bert, what happened?" Miguel asked in a loud, concerned voice.
Bert looked up, his glasses gone and blood running from various cuts on his face. "No cat." He huffed.
Hawk and some Cobra Kai students walked from outside, smirks on their faces . Kyler smirked looking at Miguel. "It's payback time, Rhea."
Miguel had a stubbed look on his face as he remembered all the past fights against him. Trixie quickly moved forward and grabbed Bert, pulling him back with them as the Cobra Kai students advanced.
From the back door, Tory and two boys walked in. A snarl on her face as she saw Sam and Miguel standing together. " Heard you were throwing a party. Hope you don't mind if we crash ." She said, staring at Sam. Sam's lip trembled slightly with fear and Trixie placed a hand on her friend's shoulder.
"Tory, you don't have to do this." Miguel tried to reason with her
"It's too late. This ends tonight!" She told him angrily. "No mercy!" Tory called as they walked in. Tory threw the first punch, hitting Chris in the jaw. And that was what started it all.
People were fighting everywhere. Some inside and some out. Miguel was facing off against Kyler. He tried to kick him but Kyler easily blocked and hit him in the chest, sending him to the ground. "You call that a kick? Come on!" He looked down at the boy.
Miguel got up and went to kick him again. Kyler caught his leg, spinning them before throwing Miguel roughly at the couch, his back hitting the back.
Trixie came up behind Kyler, sweeping him down to the floor as she went down to punch him in the face. He (miraculously) rolled out of the way and went for a right hook to her face.
She dodged and round-house kicked him in the face. Kyler wiped his nose, blood slightly trickling down as he widened his eyes at the blue-haired girl.
Sam was fighting one of the boys from Cobra Kai, kicking him against the stairs. Sam and Tory both fighting near each other finished their opponents. Tory turned and looked at Sam with a malicious smirk on her face.
Hawk looked around at each of his old friends getting hurt by the Cobra Kai students. Two boys had Demetri, restraining him to where one had his arm pulled back. Just like at the arcade a few weeks ago.
"Hey, you're Hawk. Free shot." The one said with a laugh as Demetri looked over at Hawk.
Hawk’s face contorted into anger as he ran towards them. He jumped, using Demetri's back to kick the one before grabbing the other and flipping him into the glass table, shattering it. Hawk walked over to Demetri who took a few steps back. "Look man , I'm sorry. For all of it. Do you want to help me win this thing?"
Demetri nodded with a smile . "Yeah."  The two moved into action together this time and not against each other.
Kyler had Miguel pinned to the wall, punching him over and over in the ribs. Miguel's face was covered in blood and he was in serious pain.
Before Trixie could go help, her head was jerked back by a tug on her hair. She grunted before getting punched in the face. She yelled before clasping her hands around the arm and twisting it.
The hand on her hair let go before she kicked her attacker to the ground, rubbing her scalp with a wince. Kyler was pushed away , the two fighting again before Miguel took him took the ground and knocked him out with a single punch.
“You okay?” Trixie asked Miguel, who nodded, blood bleeding from his nose.
“You okay too?” He asked and Trixie nodded.
“Yeah… A little pissed but overall fine.” She sighed before looking around, her eyes widening. “Where’s Sam and Tory?” She asked.
Miguel also widened his eyes before he and Trixie ran around the house to find the tow, Demetri and Hawk following. " Guys stop!" Miguel yelled, finding them in the dojo.
Tory looked over, fury on her face. "Tory, the fight's over," Hawk told her.
Tory shook her head. "It's not over. This will never be over, LaRusso. You hear me?"
Sam looked at her, still holding the staff at her. "You know where to find me."
Tory lowered her fists and started walking out , she stopped in front of Miguel and Hawk. "Traitors." Her eyes then focused on Trixie. “How could you do that to Cobra Kai? You’re supposed to be loyal. After everything I’ve done for you, you betray me?”
“Friendship isn’t transactional, Tory,” Trixie said, Miguel holding her hand tightly.
Tory rolled her eyes, glaring at Hawk as she leaned forward. "You better watch your back!" She continued walking but Demetri stopped her.
"He won't have to. He's got friends watching it for him."
_____________________________________________________
Trixie stroked Miguel’s hair out of his face as she applied a small cotton swab to his face . He winced and Trixie pursed her lips , “Sorry, this might hurt a bit.” She said quietly, “Just tell me if it gets too bad.”
“Thanks, Trixie,” Miguel said. Trixie could feel his breath close to her face as she wiped the blood from his face.
“Hey, if it makes you feel any better, you just got out of a wheelchair and still looked badass.” She chuckled slightly, though her eyes said a different story.
“That trick you did with the arm was pretty badass too . He got your hair and you still beat him .” He grinned through the pain as Trixie placed a bandaid on the inner corner underneath his eyebrow.
“I guess I’m just not into hair pulling.” She joked as she wetted a tissue and started to wipe blood away from his face. “You’re lucky your nose stopped bleeding.”
“Maybe I’m just lucky I have you to take care of me.” He said quickly and Trixie paused. She breathed in slowly before letting out a shaky breath and going back to wiping the blood from his face.
“You sure you’re okay?” Miguel asked and Trixie nodded with a slight smile.
“I’m fine, probably just gonna get a small bruise from that punch that one guy gave me but rather than that I’ll be peachy.” She said, packing up her first aid kit.
“ You sure?” Miguel asked, standing up and stopping her from packing the first aid kit by taking her hands into his , “I-I mean, you say that but then you end up being really hurt…”
Trixie swallowed, her face growing warm at the touch before she smiled awkwardly. “I swear, it’ll just be a small bruise on my face. Nothing major, I promise.”
“Well, Demetri said you usually keep your promises so I’ll hold you to it.” Miguel grinned, though he didn’t let go of Trixie’s hand. Her lips parted, a breath escaping that barely made a sound , but it echoed in the quiet. His pulse quickened, the air between them thickening with every second. “I should go,” He whispered, though neither of them moved.
Trixie’s throat tightened. “You should.”
Miguel leaned forward just a fraction. Though she stiffened, she didn’t pull away. Trixie’s gaze flickered to his lips, then back to his eyes. He tilted his head just slightly, his breath now mingling with hers. It would be so easy to close the distance. Too easy. And ye t… Her hand moved then, reaching out, fingertips grazing the side of his face, tentative at first, as if testing the waters.
“Do… Do you want this?” He asked hesitantly. Trixie swallowed and she felt as if she were on fire.
“... I’m not saying I wouldn’t.” She smiled slightly. Miguel smiled and slowly, achingly slow, he leaned in.
Their lips hovered just a breath apart, close enough to feel the heat, the tension, but not yet touching. And then, finally, Trixie closed the gap. The kiss was soft at first, hesitant. Miguel’s hand slid into her hair, pulling her closer, and she melted into him, her lips parting, the kiss deepening with every passing second.
Miguel’s scent flooded through her. Warm and earthy with a slight iron smell of blood. Trixie cupped Miguel’s face as his hands ran through her hair.
It was the kind of kiss that was a need, raw and consuming. “Holy fuck.”
Miguel and Trixie pulled apart at the sudden noise as the blue-haired girl snapped her head to the bathroom doorway to see Patrick standing with his arms crossed. “Trick! What the fuck-”
“I should be saying that. Especially when the ex that seemingly broke your heart is in our bathroom making out with you.” He raised his eyebrows as Miguel looked to the ground in embarrassment.
“Trick!” Trixie buried her face in her hands as she groaned, “Sorry, Miguel… Uh, text later?”
“U-uh, yeah. Sorry, Patrick.” Miguel said and rushed out of the bathroom as quickly as he possibly could. The door to their apartment slammed closed as Trixie looked at her brother with a nervous expression.
“Did he apologize? Is he sorry for what he did?” Trick asked and Trixie nodded. “Did you make him work for it?” Trixie shrugged and Trick sighed at the response. “I don’t care what your dating life is as long as he doesn’t try any shit he pulled last time. I’d appreciate it if you did this privately with the door locked.”
Trixie nodded, her body about to explode in embarrassment as she rushed into her room. She groaned, collapsing onto her bed in humiliation as her phone buzzed.
Miguel: Am I in the clear? I’m pretty sure your brother hates me He hates me I know it
He says he's fine with it Just give it about a week or so and he’ll be alright
Miguel: I’m pretty sure it’s been going on for a lot longer than a week Even with karate, he scares the shit out of me for some reason... Maybe it’s the tattoos and the piercings?
Nah he’s just gay as fuck
Miguel: I guess it runs in the family
Fuck you women are beautiful
Miguel: Fuck you too
I’m getting with Sam
Miguel: Wow after all that happened in the bathroom???
… Right Almost forgot about that
Miguel: Does this mean I’ve racked up enough points? You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to It’s your choice not mine Miguel...
Miguel: That was dumb of me I shouldn’t have kissed you I’m an idiot Just ignore me I made things awkward forget it I’m sorry
Miguel, calm down I kissed you back for a reason I forgive you and you’ve earned my trust back For now Just maybe we should take it slow

Hadestown starters, if I may?: “ lover, you were gone so long ”? please and thank you!
HADESTOWN.
She was different than he'd left her: there was pink gloss at her lips, silk on her skin, and dangled there around her neck diamonds sufficient to weigh her down — to drag her into the sea. Pearls were the Collins jewel of choice for their brides: drug up out of the water with the rest of their profits and purgatories. Not so for Devlin. That expensive throat may as well have been personally adorned by his hand, a foot and a pocketbook in distant mines afield. Roger swept her hair aside and kissed her — delicate, there on the vein beneath the corner of her jaw.
Lilacs. If he doubted then the scent of petal-skin reminded him, filling the cab of the Pontiac as if she herself had bloomed in the first breath of summer. The herald of warmer days, lilacs; and now Victoria, too, on the first train whistle of the season. The flowers waited for her, the sunshine and the sea breeze, right beside him on that platform. She was here, for a little while; his for a little while. And he buried himself in her, in the skin of her throat perfectly preserved in memory, and made only now and again the idle noise of contentment, or petulant hum at the string of diamonds in his way.
“Roger, let’s go in.”
He pretended, delightedly, that he hadn’t heard, and reached back to unclasp the necklace, letting it fall to expose the hollow of her throat. Vicki caught it without complaint but gave her half-hearted protests as he kissed her there again, again, as if he hadn’t eaten since she’d gone. Empty stomachs, empty hands: he took her in his arms to lay her back against against the seat and she laughed, beautiful, musical at his ear.
“Not in the car!”
Odysseus was wrong, he thought, not to listen to it. Rocks be damned.
He pulled back just enough to look at her — at that smile he had put there, at the flush on her cheeks from the heat of the sun, from the heat of the air. The way she looked at him, the same way she looked at the stars when she first came home. Roger brushed a thumb across her cheek.
“I missed you,” he confessed, hushed. There was too much packed in the empty syllables, and his words strained.
“I missed you,” came her echo, equally sparse.
He leaned down to allow himself just one more, but paused at the first touch to long-awaited mouth. She didn't taste at all like he remembered. She didn’t taste like Vicki. She tasted like Burke. Phantom Lucky Strikes under her tongue, in the back of her throat, on her teeth. Roger’s brow furrowed with the jar of memory misaligned, but he said nothing, giving only a doting kiss to the tip of pert nose before he withdrew. So she’d started smoking. It was cold, even on the asphalt isle, in the winter time — they all of them had their vices to keep the body warm.
Despite her earlier protests, Mrs. Devlin lingered on the passenger side for a few minutes longer, busying herself with fixing her clasp, with straightening his tie, as though there were anyone to see them on the short walk up the drive, as if perhaps the newness of the house demanded she be equally pristine — fine bright stonework that set off ice blue tailoring, all done in the meticulous sculptor’s hand of the American dollar. She’d grown up since last summer, even: glittering like the jewels at her throat, having been formed in six months of marriage, of Fifth Avenue, of the company of her charming oil tycoon. It wasn’t all that long ago she’d been Miss Eyre in green wool, in his house, not Burke’s; but in the measure of things there was a greater distance between then and now than weeks and days and something so transgressible as time.
Roger watched her fingers as she smoothed the ends of her hair. Twenty-three. She’d have just turned twenty-three: yes, that’s right – her birthday was in March. He hadn’t sent her anything, he supposed that was cold of him, but he had no doubt that she wanted for very little. She just wanted …
His fingers curled, then flexed. “I’ll get your luggage,” he announced, and she swallowed down whatever it was she was thinking to say, drowned in the click of heels to fresh pavement, and the slam of the trunk. Roger was as good as his word – better – a cherry Tourister in each hand as far as the threshold, where they waited while she fussed with her keys. He remained still as she pushed the door open; still, even as he felt the brush of her hand.
“Will you stay for a while?” she asked, all innocence, lip gloss, summertime, Lucky Strikes. Vicki met his eyes again, so directly he'd long forgotten to breathe. “I’ll make you a drink.”

Hunters Dawn
A short horror story by Glennis
Tumblr media
The school bus shuddered and groaned like a dying beast, its headlights cutting through the oppressive darkness that clung to the abandoned schoolyard. Rain lashed against the windows, blurring the skeletal outline of the building. Inside, five figures sat in tense silence, their faces illuminated by the flickering dome light.
"This is it," growled John, his hand resting on the shotgun across his lap. A mountain of a man with a salt-and-pepper beard, he exuded an air of quiet authority. "Remember your training. We're dealing with things that defy nature, things that can mimic us, even become the shadows themselves."
A ripple of unease passed through the group. Dana, the youngest of them, adjusted the grip on her rifle, her heart pounding a frantic rhythm against her ribs. John, her mentor, had trained her well, but nothing could truly prepare her for facing a Skinwalker, a malevolent shapeshifting creature of Navajo legend.
They had been tracking a particularly vicious pack for months, their trail of terror leading them here, to the desolate plains of Montana and this decaying symbol of forgotten childhoods. The air itself felt heavy, pregnant with an unseen menace.
John opened the bus door, the screech of metal hinges echoing in the silence. The wind whipped in, carrying with it the scent of damp earth and something else, something primal and unsettling. One by one, they disembarked, their boots crunching on the gravel.
Each member of the group was armed to the teeth, their arsenal a mix of modern weaponry and ancient talismans. John led the way, his shotgun held at the ready. They moved as one, a well-oiled machine honed by years of experience hunting creatures that lurked in the shadows.
The school's front doors had long since surrendered to the elements, their shattered remains offering a glimpse into the abyss within. The stench hit them first, a nauseating blend of decay and something sickly sweet, like rotting meat.
"Flashlights," John muttered, his voice barely audible above the wind's mournful howl. Beams of light sliced through the darkness, illuminating dust motes dancing in the stale air. The school's interior was a graveyard of forgotten dreams. Desks lay overturned, textbooks sprawled open on the floor, their pages yellowed with age. Graffiti marred the walls, a testament to bored teenagers and fleeting moments of rebellion.
They moved through the building systematically, their senses on high alert. The silence was unnerving, broken only by the creak of floorboards and the rhythmic drip of water from a leaking roof. Every shadow seemed to writhe, every rustle of wind a whispered threat.
Tumblr media
"Check the classrooms," John instructed, his voice tight with tension. "Remember, they prefer the dark, but don't underestimate their cunning. They could be anywhere, anything."
Dana and Mark, a wiry man with haunted eyes, took the left hallway, their flashlights cutting through the gloom. The air grew colder as they moved deeper into the school, a bone-chilling cold that seeped into their bones.
"Did you feel that?" Mark whispered, his voice strained. "Like something just brushed past me?"
Dana shook her head, her pulse quickening. "It's just your nerves, Mark. Stay sharp."
They continued their search, their footsteps echoing in the silence. The classrooms were empty, stripped bare by time and vandals. Still, Dana couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, the hairs on the back of her neck prickling with unease.
In the distance, a floorboard creaked. Dana spun around, her flashlight beam darting across the hallway.
"John?" she called out, her voice echoing in the emptiness.
Silence.
"John, report," she repeated, her voice sharper this time.
Static crackled through their earpieces, followed by a chilling silence.
"Something's wrong," Mark breathed, his eyes wide with fear. "We need to find John."
They backtracked, their steps hurried and uneven. The air grew thick with a palpable sense of dread. As they reached the main hallway, a bloodcurdling scream pierced the silence. It was John, his voice filled with a terror Dana had never heard before.
They rushed towards the sound, their hearts pounding in their chests. The scream had come from the school's library, its once grand double doors now hanging precariously from their hinges.
The smell hit them first, a wave of putrid decay so potent it made their eyes water. Dana gagged, clamping a hand over her mouth. Her flashlight beam danced across the room, revealing a scene of unimaginable horror.
John lay sprawled on the floor, his body twisted at an unnatural angle. His eyes were wide with terror, his face frozen in a silent scream. Blood pooled around him, staining the dusty floor a sickening crimson. And standing over him, its form shifting in the shadows, was a creature that defied description.
It was neither human nor animal, yet possessed a grotesque parody of both. Its eyes, glowing with malevolent intelligence, burned into Dana's very soul. Its limbs were elongated and twisted, ending in claws that scraped against the floor like knives on bone. The air shimmered around it, as if reality itself was struggling to contain its monstrous form.
Mark, his face ashen, raised his shotgun. "Get away from him, you bastard!" he roared, his voice cracking with a mixture of fear and rage.
The creature turned its head towards them, a grotesque smile spreading across its face. It moved with a speed that defied logic, a blur of motion that left Dana's senses reeling. One moment it was standing over John's broken body, the next it was inches from Mark, its claws slashing through the air.
Mark screamed as the creature struck, its claws ripping through flesh and bone with sickening ease. He crumpled to the floor, his blood splattering across Dana's boots.
Dana stood frozen, paralyzed by a terror so profound it threatened to consume her. This was no ordinary Skinwalker, no mindless beast driven by instinct. This was something ancient, something powerful, something that reveled in the suffering of others.
The creature turned its attention to Dana, its eyes burning with a cold, calculating malice. It spoke then, its voice a guttural growl that seemed to claw its way up from the depths of her nightmares.
"You cannot hope to understand what you are dealing with, little one," it hissed, its breath a fetid gust of decay. "I am the First, the source from which all others spring. You are nothing but insects, here to be crushed beneath my heel."
Dana knew she had to act, to fight, even if it meant her death. She had dedicated her life to hunting these creatures, to avenging the innocent lives they had taken, including her own brother's. She would not go down without a fight.
Taking a deep breath, Dana forced herself to move. She raised her rifle, her finger tightening on the trigger. The creature lunged, its claws outstretched, but Dana was ready. She fired, the rifle bucking against her shoulder. The silver-coated bullets, blessed by a Navajo shaman, slammed into the creature's chest, tearing through its flesh.
The creature roared in pain, staggering back. It clutched at its wounds, its glowing eyes flickering with surprise and rage. The smell of burning flesh filled the air, acrid and sweet.
"You dare?" it snarled, its voice laced with pain. "You dare strike at that which you cannot comprehend?"
Dana didn't hesitate. She emptied the magazine into the creature, each bullet a prayer whispered into the darkness. The creature convulsed under the onslaught, its body wracked with pain. It stumbled back, crashing into a bookshelf. Books tumbled to the floor, their pages scattering like fallen leaves.
For a moment, Dana dared to hope. The creature was wounded, its movements sluggish. But as she watched, a chilling transformation began to take place. The wounds on its chest began to close, the flesh knitting itself back together at an alarming rate. The creature's eyes, which had dimmed for a moment, blazed with renewed power.
"Foolish child," it hissed, its voice dripping with venom. "Did you truly believe you could destroy me? I am eternal, invincible. You will join your companions in death, and your souls will nourish me for centuries to come."
As the creature advanced, its form shifting, growing larger, more monstrous, Dana knew she had only one option left. She had to reach the ancient talisman John had entrusted to her, a talisman said to hold the power to banish even the most powerful Skinwalker back to the darkness from whence it came.
But the talisman was in the school's basement, and the creature was standing between her and her only hope of survival.

Tumblr media
Adrenaline surged through Dana’s veins, a cocktail of fear and desperate courage. The creature, its form flickering between a grotesque parody of a wolf and something far more sinister, stalked towards her, its claws scraping against the floor like icy fingers dragging across a tombstone.
“There’s nowhere left to run, little one,” it rasped, its voice a chorus of whispers that seemed to slither in from the very edges of the room. “Embrace your fate.”
But Dana refused to surrender. She had faced impossible odds before, stared death in the face and lived to tell the tale. John’s words echoed in her mind, a mantra against the encroaching darkness: “A hunter never gives up, not while there’s breath in her lungs.”
The basement. The talisman. It was a long shot, a desperate gamble, but it was her only chance.
“You want me?” Dana challenged, her voice surprisingly steady despite the tremor that ran through her. She backed away slowly, her eyes never leaving the creature. “Come and get me.”
The creature hesitated, a flicker of something akin to caution in its glowing eyes. It had underestimated her once, paid the price in burning flesh and thwarted power. It wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.
Seizing the opportunity, Dana spun on her heel and ran, her boots pounding against the hardwood floor. She could feel the creature’s presence behind her, a wave of cold malice that threatened to engulf her. But she didn’t dare look back, not now, not when her life, and the fate of countless others, hung in the balance.
She burst out of the library, her lungs burning, her legs screaming for respite. The hallway stretched before her, a tunnel of shadows and dust motes dancing in the pale moonlight filtering through grimy windows. The air hung heavy, thick with the stench of decay and the creature’s malevolent presence.
Dana risked a glance over her shoulder. The creature was gaining on her, its form shifting, elongating, becoming a nightmarish fusion of wolf and shadow. Its eyes burned like hot coals, its breath a ragged rasp that echoed her own frantic heartbeat.
She pushed herself harder, her vision blurring at the edges. The school seemed to stretch endlessly before her, a labyrinth of lockers and classrooms, all silent witnesses to the horrors unfolding within its walls.
The stairwell leading down to the basement was at the end of the hallway, a gaping maw of darkness that promised both salvation and oblivion. Dana could feel the creature’s anticipation, its hunger growing with every step she took closer to her goal.
She reached the stairwell, her hand gripping the rusted railing for support. The steps creaked ominously beneath her weight, each one a testament to the school’s age and neglect. The air grew colder as she descended, the darkness pressing in on her like icy fingers.
The basement was a place of shadows and whispers, the air thick with the smell of damp earth and something ancient and unsettling. Dana’s flashlight beam cut through the gloom, revealing a jumble of discarded furniture, broken toys, and forgotten memories.
She remembered exploring this very basement as a child, playing hide-and-seek with her brother while their parents attended a school board meeting. The memory, once a source of comfort, now felt like a cruel mockery, a reminder of all that she had lost.
“There you are,” a voice hissed from the darkness.
Dana whirled around, her finger tightening on the trigger of her rifle. The creature stood at the bottom of the stairs, its form more solid now, less spectral, but no less terrifying. Its eyes, glowing with an infernal light, seemed to pierce through her very soul.
“You cannot hide from me forever,” it growled, its voice a guttural rumble that shook the very foundations of the school. “Your kind is weak, easily broken. Your time is over.”
Dana knew it was bluffing, trying to break her spirit before delivering the final blow. It was wounded, its movements less fluid than before, its regeneration hampered by the silver bullets that coursed through its unnatural flesh.
But time was running out. She needed to find the talisman, and fast.
“If you’re so powerful,” Dana challenged, her voice echoing in the cavernous space, “then come and get me.”
The creature hesitated, its glowing eyes narrowing. It was wary of her now, of the weapon she wielded, of the fire that burned in her eyes. It had underestimated her once, and it wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
But Dana knew she couldn’t keep this up forever. She needed a distraction, something to buy her precious seconds. She scanned the basement, her eyes searching for anything she could use.
Her gaze fell on a pile of old paint cans stacked precariously near the creature. An idea, reckless and desperate, took root in her mind.
“You want a fight?” Dana shouted, her voice echoing in the silence. “Then let’s dance!”
With a swift kick, she sent a paint can tumbling towards the creature. It struck the creature’s chest with a dull thud, splattering its dark fur with a splash of vibrant red.
The creature roared in anger, its eyes blazing with fury. It had fallen for her trap, its attention momentarily diverted.
Now was her chance.

Tumblr media
Dana sprinted towards the far end of the basement, where she remembered a storage room being. It was a long shot, but it was the only place that offered even a sliver of concealment. She could hear the creature’s enraged roars behind her, the sound of its heavy paws pounding against the concrete floor.
She reached the storage room door, its paint peeling, its handle covered in a thick layer of dust. It creaked open with a groan, as if protesting the intrusion after years of undisturbed slumber. The room was small, cramped, filled with the musty scent of old wood and forgotten things.
But in the far corner, nestled amongst a tangle of cobwebs and shadows, was a wooden chest, its surface carved with intricate symbols. Dana’s heart leaped. It was the same chest John had described, the one that held the talisman.
She scrambled towards it, her fingers fumbling with the rusted latch. Behind her, the creature roared, its fury shaking the very foundations of the school.
“You cannot hide from me!” it bellowed, its voice a guttural rasp that seemed to claw its way up from the depths of her nightmares. “You will join your companions in death!”
The latch gave way, the chest creaking open. Inside, nestled on a bed of faded velvet, lay a small leather pouch. Dana reached for it, her fingers trembling with anticipation and dread.
The creature crashed into the storage room, its eyes burning with a cold, malevolent fire. It lunged for Dana, its claws outstretched, its jaws open in a silent snarl.
But Dana was ready. She snatched the pouch from the chest, her fingers closing around a smooth, cold object within. With a swift movement, she whirled around, interposing the talisman between herself and the monstrous creature.
The effect was instantaneous and dramatic. The air crackled with raw power, the temperature plummeting as a wave of icy energy erupted from the talisman. The creature reared back, its eyes wide with surprise and something akin to fear.
“What is this?” it roared, its voice laced with pain and confusion. “What sorcery is this?”
“This,” Dana said, her voice trembling but resolute, “is your end.”
She held the talisman aloft, its ancient power flowing through her veins, filling her with a strength she had never known. The symbols carved into its surface glowed with an ethereal light, casting dancing shadows across the dusty floor.
The creature thrashed and convulsed, its form flickering, its substance seeming to unravel at the edges. It clawed at its chest, its eyes wide with agony and disbelief.
“No!” it shrieked, its voice a tortured wail that echoed through the empty school. “This cannot be! I am the First, the source! I cannot be destroyed!”
But its protests were in vain. The power of the talisman, amplified by Dana’s unwavering will, was too great to resist. The creature’s form began to dissolve, its flesh melting away like wax before a flame, its bones turning to dust.
A final, earsplitting shriek tore through the air, and then the creature was gone, banished back to the darkness from whence it came. The talisman grew cold in Dana’s hand, its light fading, its power spent.
Dana stood there for a moment, her heart pounding, her breath catching in her throat. The silence, so profound after the creature’s roars and shrieks, was almost deafening.
She had done it. She had defeated the creature, avenged her brother, and countless others who had fallen prey to its evil. But there was no joy in her victory, only a profound sadness and a bone-deep weariness.
She was a hunter, yes, but she was also human. And the things she had seen, the things she had done, had left their mark on her soul.
As the first rays of dawn pierced through the grimy windows of the abandoned school, casting long shadows across the dusty floor, Dana made her way out of the basement, the talisman clutched tightly in her hand.
She had faced her fears, confronted the darkness, and emerged victorious. But she knew that the fight was far from over. For as long as there were shadows in the world, there would always be creatures that lurked within them, waiting for their chance to strike.
And Dana, the hunter, would be there to stop them.

Honor in Crisis
Fandom: DC Comics, Batfam, NTT, Titans, JLI, Arrowfam, Flashfam, GL Corps, Infinity Inc
Summary: Every chapter will focus on one character specifically and then I'll update their statuses in order.
This is a no powers au/fix-it fic for Heroes in Crisis. I wanted to focus on the characters and their healing. I decided that'd be easier to put some of these characters in a fic like this and work on it more from a real-world perspective. I DO want to say that I do not believe healing is linear so don't plan on a clear-cut happy ending. I'd say (and idk for sure) we're gonna eventually get a bittersweet ending for certain characters but nothing tragic.
Chapters: 2/?
Characters: Jason Todd, Bruce Wayne, Kole Weathers, Lilith Clay, Michael Carter, Michelle Carter, Rani Carter, Grant Emerson, Roy Harper, Grant Wilson, Joseph Wilson, Thaddeus Thawne, Bart Allen, Helen Claiborne, President Thawne, Todd Rice, Alan Scott (DCU), Damon Matthews
Relationship(s): Damon Matthews/Todd Rice
Additional Tags: No Powers AU, Canon Divergent AU, Fix-It Fic, Angst, TW // Eating Disorder Mention (please be kind this one was the toughest for me to write personally)
Chapter Two: Watercolor (Kole Weather's POV)
Kole's fingers were stained from the watercolor, but it didn't bother her. Her mind was elsewhere. She took her palm and wiped her forehead, staining her temple. She wiped her hands on a paper towel and picked up the pack of oil pastels. She was startled by the sound of someone knocking a brush washer off the table. "Fuck," they cursed. Kole dropped her oil pastel on the table and got up from the table. She left the room, and a nurse followed her out.
"Kole, is everything alright?" the nurse asked. Kole nodded even though she was trembling from head to toe. The nurse gave Kole a little distance, which she was grateful for, and she closed her eyes and rolled her shoulders back.
Kole was already on edge, and she just wanted to take that as a sign and cancel her plans. She didn't really want her friend to see her. Kole tried to hide the worst of the disorder from her friends, but things had gotten so bad. Kole couldn't remember what happened clearly, but she could recall sobbing because she'd lost clumps of her hair. Never mind the tachycardia and muscle spasms Kole experienced on the floor in the dressing room. She nearly died. That was the last time her friends saw her. That was the image they must've carried in their heads when they thought about her. It happened two months ago, but they hadn't seen her since then.
Kole feared that it'd be too much pressure. She imagined that they'd poke and prod her with all the wrong questions or treat her differently because of what happened. The guilt consumed her. Wasn't that enough? Had the circumstances been different, she would've slipped and refused to eat or hurt herself to stop the panic. Her therapist insisted that it was expected for her to want to self-sabotage in high-stress conditions. At least that's what she remembered. The nurse returned and whispered Kole's name. She snapped back to the present time, and the nurse asked, "Are you ready to go back in?"
Kole nodded. "Yes, sorry," she whispered as she followed the nurse back inside. She sat down in her spot and went back to her art piece. When it was time to move on, Kole went to the cafeteria, and she was met by a friend who immediately lit up upon seeing her.
"I'm so happy to see you," Lilith whispered, "I missed you."
Kole didn't know how to react, but she wrapped her arms around Lilith. Lilith got in line with Kole, and they got dinner together. Kole led Lilith to her usual table, and a nurse sat down next to her. Lilith sat across from her. Kole's hands shook as she looked down at her plate. It wasn't until she heard Lilith's spoon hit the bowl that she looked up. "Can I tell you something? Sister-to-sister?" Lilith questioned as she glanced up at Kole. Kole was relieved to hear that Lilith still considered her a sister. Kole nodded. "I know I'm the first person to come visit, and I know this might seem overwhelming, but I'm grateful that you let me come. I also want you to know that I don't want to rush you."
"Thanks, Lil," Kole mumbled. She meant it.
She started eating, and Lilith started rambling about how a showcase she was in. It didn't bother Kole to hear about it. In fact, she'd been excited to get back to dancing. That was one of the things she had to look forward to. "Sorry, Kole... I'm just so nervous," Lilith chuckled.
"No, it's okay. I was actually—. I was looking forward to dancing with you again," Kole whispered. She tensed, waiting for Lilith to speak. Kole wondered if Lilith would try to let her down easily. She wondered if Lilith would say she wasn't ready yet.
"There's nothing that I'd want more," Lilith replied. They both went back to eating, and for just a moment, Kole forgot where she was. Dinner was surprisingly good for once. Lilith and Kole met eyes while they were chewing, and Kole chuckled. "What?" Lilith laughed.
"This wasn't as bad as I thought it would be," Kole replied after swallowing her food. Lilith smiled at her. Lilith took a sip of her water and smiled.
"Good," Lilith whispered.
Lilith was so good to her despite the issues Kole had with Lilith's mother. They both had problems with her, but that's what made them sisters. After they finished eating dinner, Lilith said her goodbyes, and Kole grabbed her hand. "You'll come back, won't you?" Kole asked. Lilith smiled and embraced her.
"I will," Lilith whispered, "Just let me know when."
As soon as Lilith was gone, Kole felt an emptiness inside herself. She lounged on the couch watching tv. She glanced over at the young man on the other end of the sofa as he mouthed the words to the tv show's episode silently to himself. His hands were burned, and so were parts of his neck and face. "Is this your favorite show?" Kole asked. He shook his head.
"No, I was on set when this was filmed," he replied. Kole looked back at the tv, and he whispered, "He's gone... He's gone to be with the lord," in sync with the tv.
Kole smiled. She thought it was funny that the young man always did that. She sometimes liked to watch the other patients. Things could be dreary, but seeing people smiling and laughing was pleasant. It made her think that she could be happy. Really happy.
She hugged her knees as she sat on the couch and dozed off in front of the tv. She wasn't sure how long she'd been asleep, but someone woke her up in time for their group to reflect on their goals. Kole rushed to her usual seat, and she took a deep breath. She was hesitant to share, but she always forced herself to. Four people went before her, and when it came to her, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "I had dinner with my friend today. She came here and sat in with me... I wanted to hurt myself, so I wouldn't have to see her... But I had fun. I didn't think I would, but I did," Kole whispered. She didn't look up for fear of making eye contact with a specific person in the group.
"So you want to be applauded for what? Not slipping?" a young man in the group asked.
"Dude!" someone chastised him. "Kole, personally, I wish I was ready to have meals with my family."
"Thank you, but it's okay. No one owes me any recognition. I'm just—. I'm proud of myself, and I didn't want to be ashamed of my anxieties," Kole clarified. Standing up for herself. She proudly smiled as she looked down at her lap. It was a good end to a difficult day.

@austerulous asked:
“Hold still.” Catching the spine of the comb between her lips, Odessa leaned close, using her fingers to make those final touches. Lena’s hair was lacquered with hairspray, styled and back-brushed into a mohawk. Only when she was satisfied did she set the comb aside. “There. Still a punk, after all.” The Junker Queen grinned wide and warm, until realisation crackled across her features. “Wait, no. One last thing…” A rattling drawer was yanked open, a sleek lipstick case plucked from its contents. Then Odessa’s cherry-red irises returned to Lena. Strong fingers clasped her chin with surprising gentleness, their faces hovering close. “Relax your mouth, yeah?” Slowly, carefully, she applied the petal-pink colour, her gaze never leaving those lips.
Once upon a time, this was a very practiced motion. Hours spent planted in front of the wooden vanity, bottles of gel and hairspray cast haphazardly on the floor of whatever friend Lena opted to crash with that night. Box dyes and stolen hair products, an old denim jacket with hand-done modifications. To this day, Lena still yearned for the fiery Phoenix she had painted on the back of it that had birthed her first nickname so many years ago.
Today, she donned a ripped tank top and sports bra, distressed jeans with a hangchain, and a pair of combat boots that had long seen better days. If one squinted, they could see the stains of long-dried blood that Lena couldn't - or wouldn't - get out of the worn leather. There was a story there, woven into the fraying fabric of clothes thrifted and stolen alike, of a child, a teen, a young woman desperate to shatter the cage of expectations.
In a bag in the corner existed the threads of conformity, another identity donned of Tracer, Overwatch Hero. The woman painted on posters and t shirts alike, packed down beneath the rebel garb now adorned. And there, it would remain, if only for the night.
Lena took the opportunity between Odessa finishing the look and retrieving the makeup to admire the fanned locks emitted from her head. Something in her chest panged, a feeling of certainty and comfort that she hadn't felt in a long time. Briefly, Lena considered the idea of shaving another crooked undercut into the base of her head, stopping just above the ears, just as she did so many years ago. But before the idea could grow, Odessa was back.
"It looks so good-" Lena's sentence was interrupted by the taller woman, piercing gaze and steady hand already lurking around face. Lena felt something heavy catch in her chest as the scent of dirt, oil grease and Odessa's own hair product filled the air around her. Something about it, like Odessa, buzzed with a vibrancy, a life, that the Wasteland couldn't extinguish.
Warmth bloomed beneath her skin, sparks set by the Junker Queen that blossomed out into the rest of her being, as the fingers gently tugged her face upwards. Lena felt constricted, trapped, in the knowing red-tinted gaze, but for once, it was a feeling she welcomed.
Pale lips split into a soft grin before parting, giving Odessa permission to apply the lipstick. It stood out against her freckled skin, highlighting the pointed Cupid's Bow and natural slope to her face. Lena popped her lips together, smearing the cream makeup into position as Odessa pulled away. Lena permitted a long look into the dusty old mirror in the corner of the room, admiring the work that had gone into highlighting her roots.
Tumblr media
"It looks amazing. Thank you, Odessa."
The moment had expired, and excitement bubbled in her chest at the coming concert, the thrill of the show, the thrum of the music, and of course: the feeling of Odessa Stone right there next to her.

Skylar's Dragon (OC fic)
Summary: What happens when a beautiful young man meets a dragon? Can he prove that he's a good person? Or will he be kept in the cave forever? And most important of all, will he ever get his phone back???
...
Skylar was bored.
The Canadian wilderness stretched on for as far as the eye could see, the trees enveloping the distant mountains, green as the brightest summer.
But he missed his home in Hungary. His family moved here when he was 14, and he was now 28. His childhood friends kept in touch via e-mail and text, but it wasn't the same. He brushed his golden locks out of his blue eyes - making sure not to tap his square glasses - and looked back inside his room. It felt bleak by comparison.
So Skylar decided to go outside. He was pale from all the time he spent indoors, and didn't think to take sunscreen. Besides, the oil in it might worsen his acne spots. He packed a backpack with snacks, and took along a walking stick. He was wearing a red and black plaid button down shirt, black jeans, and running shoes.
Hiking up the mountain was easier than expected. He was fairly tall, 5'10 and 1/2, and naturally skinny. Still, he didn't always eat healthy foods, and didn't exercise frequently. He was glad his body was as strong as it was. Maybe next time he'd bring his girlfriend and they could take pictures in the wilderness together.
As Skylar hiked, he found the mountainside twisted in unexpected ways.
There was a cave up ahead, and there seemed to be smoke coming from within. Huh? Why would there be smoke?
Curiosity taking him, he decided to approach quietly. Around the cave, things seemed to quiet down. There were no birds chirping. Listening close, you could hear a deep rumble from the cave. Skylar wondered if this was a bad idea. He got ready to turn tail when he saw something. It was a glittering object, like a diamond. He blinked, wiping his glasses for a second. But when he looked back, it was gone.
Still, if the cave had gemstones it was worth checking out, right?
He carefully peeked inside the cave, getting his phone camera ready.
Then he found his phone was gone. He gasped.
"Hey, wait!"
He looked around in the cave, his eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness. His hands brushed through his hair - he did this sometimes to calm himself down - and thought of a game plan. If his phone disappeared there were only a few places it could be, right?
He ventured deeper into the cave.
And then he saw it. His phone, face down, and right next to it... a beautiful blue dragon.
The dragon was what one might call "cute", having a small snout and long graceful wings, and looked only twice as big as he was. It was sleeping peacefully.
Skylar gasped. He'd never seen a dragon before. He didn't even know they existed! He wanted to touch it.
Yet as he crept closer, the nervousness in his stomach told him not to. Dragons weren't known to be friendly in any of the fairy tales. They were known to trick and eat people.
His hand reached for his phone instead. Barely touching it, he heard a pebble fall in the distance. Startled, he pulled his hand back with a squeak.
The dragon opened its emerald eyes.
"My, my…" It said in a gender-neutral tone. As it spoke longer however, the dragon's voice hinted at a female. "What's this? Is this a human…?"
Gulping, Skylar nodded, not daring lie to the beast.
"Interesting. I don't remember humans being quite so…" She nudged his stomach with her snout, making him flinch and giggle. "Adorable."
"Heh! W-what?" He shook his head. It was still hard to believe the sight in front of him. He gazed in awe at the creature. What did she mean by that? "H-how long have you been asleep? … Uh, h-humans have evolved, I guess?"
She eyed him with interest.
"Are there more of you I could see?" She wondered. She suddenly felt a yawn take over, opening her jaws. Skylar flinched and backed away. When the dragon looked back at him, she looked confused. "Oh? Wait. No…"
Her tone became sympathetic.
"I'm not going to hurt you."
Still trembling, Skylar nodded.
"O-okay!"
He eyed his phone on the ground. He wondered if he'd ever get it back. She looked at it in awe, wondering if this was a modern human weapon. If so, she wasn't going to take her chances.
"So, human... Tell me, what is this device?"
Skylar blanked as he tried to explain. The Dragon hummed.
"Have the humans sent you to slay me…?"
He shook his head.
"N-no! I- T-that has many functions!" He said. "It's my phone."
"Phone?"
He blanked and tried to explain. Of course someone who didn't have access to the outside world for centuries wouldn't know what that is.
"Communication device. To uh, contact other humans?"
The dragon observed the device, not sure whether to believe him. She moved towards him slowly.
"Hmm… I will believe you, if you can prove to me you're telling the truth."
Skylar took in deep breaths to remain calm.
"H-how do I do that-?"
Suddenly he flinched as the dragon put both paws on his sides. He wondered what the dragon was doing. But he didn't have to wonder for long. She started carefully massaging her paw pads up his ribs, making him laugh and try to push her away.
"Hahahaha!! Hey wait, I'm ticklish!"
He didn't like to admit it, but he was still just as ticklish as when he was a child. At 28 years old and almost 6 feet, it was easier to push people away. But the dragon was clearly stronger.
Squealing as the dragon found his armpits, Skylar doubled over and flopped onto the floor. He squirmed around.
"HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAA! NOT THEHEHEHEEHRE!"
The dragon mercilessly swirled her paw pads in circles in his armpits. Strange that she found his worst spot so easily.
"PLEHEHEEHEEHEASE!! MERCYHYHHYYHYYY!" He cried.
To his surprise she stopped, letting him breathe. She observed him closely. He just lay there and blushed, half curled up on the floor of the cave, arms around his stomach. This human was indeed different from other humans of centuries ago. He was not only much more beautiful, he also seemed like a gentle soul. One who cared for other people and animals. He did not make a move to his phone.
"Hmm…" The dragon said. "You seem non-aggressive. But answer me this: why were you climbing up the mountainside?"
"Hehe… I… I was going on a hike. I was… curious!" He said between breaths.
"Curious?" She said. And then she tickled up and down his sides. "Then tell me how you saw all the warning signs and still came here?"
"HAHAAHHAHAHAHHAAA! PLEASE!!!" He squealed, thrashing around. "I'M JUST AN IDIOT!!"
She stopped and hummed.
"And what about the sparkle of that diamond? Surely you wanted it?"
Skylar, arms wrapped around his waist, huffed. His cheeks were hot.
"Yeah, uh… But not if it belonged to someone!" He sounded like he was about to say more, but cut himself off.
The dragon observed him more. This man still seemed like he was hiding something. She nuzzled his stomach again, making him chortle.
"HAHAHAHAAHAHAAA! COHOHOHME OHOHOHHOOHOHON!"
Her nose nudged its way inside his belly button. He squealed and tried to curl up more.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAA! STAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHP!"
"What are you hiding, human?" She said, tapping her paws along his ribs again.
"HEHEHEEHEHEHEHEEE! NOTHIHIHIHIHING!!!"
"I think you are!" She said, getting enjoyment from hearing the human's laughter. Then she spotted the ring on his right hand. "Ooo, what's this? It's pretty!"
He quickly hid it from her sight. She'd stopped her tickling for the more curious approach of watching him closely. Wrapping his arms around his stomach, he caught his breath.
"Please… p-please… M-my girlfriend… She'll kill me if I give that to you… Please…"
The dragon eyed him up and down. His glasses on his face were crooked from all the thrashing. He seemed disheveled, his clothing wrinkled on his skinny body. He panted, cheeks red. Some of his acne spots were more noticeable.
"You have a sweetheart?"
His blue eyes looked at her hopefully.
"Y-yeah… We're uh… engaged…" He panted, yet he looked at the dragon hoping she'd understand.
"Aww! A human in love." She smiled, and crawled over to his other side, still curious.
He nodded.
"And that phone… it's not dangerous. It uh, has a lot of pictures of us together!" He explained. His heart beat fast thinking of Amber, her bright brown eyes and long auburn hair. In his eyes were a caring look. "I-I didn't come here to hunt you, I promise. I won't tell a soul!"
Her eyes softened. This man was indeed how she'd assumed: a caring soul. So she brought his phone back to him and carefully, cautiously, placed it back in his hands.
He accepted it and held it to his heart. Then he carefully placed it in his pocket, and held his hands out to the dragon to show her he didn't have any means to harm anyone.
"I, uh, I'm so sorry… I didn't mean to invade." He said sheepishly. The dragon looked at him with understanding eyes.
"That's good." She said. "I don't want any other humans to know I exist."
"Uh, yeah. And they won't!" He promised.
Taking a step back, he looked at the light of the entrance of the cave. He could leave now. But curiosity peaked him. He ran a hand through his golden hair and adjusted his glasses.
"So… y-you're a real dragon?" He said breathlessly. Carefully, he reached out his hand. "Can I… touch you?"
The dragon smiled and nodded. She saw his hand and nudged it with her snout. Skylar beamed.
"Wow…"
He felt his heart light up. This was a moment he thought would never be possible. A real dragon had made friends with him!
Carefully he stepped out of the cave with a smile as bright as the sun.
This was not what he was expecting out of his hike! But hey, he'd gotten his phone back! And he'd met a new friend who would be engraved in his memory forever.
